The isolation hospital would be constructed by the Frontier Works Organization near National Institute of Health over 40-kanal land, using the pre-fabricated light gauge steel structure. The hospital is expected to be completed by 10th of May this year.

The Chinese government would fund the construction of the facility that had extended the assistance of around $4 million. The project consists of seven patients’ blocks – four male and three female – a laboratory and diagnostics block and another for accommodation of doctors and paramedics.
Why don't they tear down Jinnah Hospital Lahore? That place is so infested you'd need to nuke it twice just to be sure. These prefabricated hospitals should be built all over the country, especially in far flung areas.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday advised the people to celebrate the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Azha with simplicity and not be careless as the COVID-19 curve was flattening in the country.

“I appeal to my people not to do again what they did on previous Eid (Eidul Fitr). Any public gathering reasons the spread of the virus and puts pressure on hospitals, doctors and nurses besides causing deaths,” the prime minister remarked talking to media persons after inaugurating the first-ever Isolation Hospital and Infections Treatment Centre here.

The Isolation Hospital and Infection Treatment Centre, which has 250 beds, has been built in just 40 days. The Chinese government had provided $4 million for the construction of the facility.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa, Chinese Ambassador to Islamabad Yao Jing, and other high-ranking officials were present at the occasion too.

PM Imran credited the implementation of the smart lockdown across the country for bearing positive results.

The prime minister said the effective measures collectively taken by the provinces as advised by the NCOC, had amazingly led to the flattening of coronavirus curve even before the projected time frame.

He said as the infection rate was on a downward trend, it could also surge again if the people showed negligence and violated the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

“I appeal the people to celebrate this Eid with simplicity. The SOPs have been formulated for the Eid. Just for sake of national economy and well being of old-aged people and already ailing people, it is essential to observe Eid with simplicity,” the prime minister said who earlier visited different sections of the hospitals after unveiling its plaque.

He lauded the tremendous work by the NDMA for completion of the facility in record 100 days period despite the lockdown impeding the movement of the people and transportation of material.

He said the completion of such a specialised hospital manifested the political will of the government to carry out the challenging task in a difficult time.

FWOOfficial

With the ground breaking of much needed hospital on 26 March 20, FWO immediately mobalized all the resources with sheer motivation to construct the Isolation Hospital and Infection Treatment Centre (IHITC). It was a time when on one hand, the world had halted entire import and export under fear of pandemic growth while on the other hand, intra - country lockdown had restricted movement and transportation to the critical extent.

The 250 bedded state of the art hospital having prefabricated steel structure building equipped with all sophisticated allied facilities has been constructed by FWO in just 40 days with sole use of internal resources. The sullen spells of torrential rains during limited construction period added further difficulty for the construction teams but couldn’t affect professionalism and morale of FWO engineers and workers. It is worth mentioning that the entire work was executed ensuring best health safety measures described by the Government as anti COVID-19 SOPs.

FWO made frequent visits to the site to inspect, guide and motivate FWO teams working round the clock for this national cause. To monitor live performance, FWO installed live monitoring cameras to monitor the work site.

We acknowledge the efforts and pay special gratitude to all our under mentioned partners including consultants and contractors who stood by us and worked round-the-clock with FWO to accomplish this gigantic project within stipulated time.

FWO should think of starting a Production facility for Prefab Houses and Buildings if they haven't already I am share their will be a huge market for them in coming years. Older but still structurally sound shipping containers can be used for this purpose. Prefab buildings usually cost less at least 30 percent less than traditional ones and are more resistant to Earth Quakes.
