I dont know why the writer in OP chose to act dishonest by mentioning drama "May maa nahi banana chahti" to suggest cousin marriages cause abnormalities even if its an isolated one.
The drama discussed two main issues
1. generational cousin marriages which go over 2-3 plus generations

Like the woman in the above video was shown to be married to her first cousin. she loses her four kids due to genetic disorders. Despite knowing this and being warned by doctors her husband marries their daughter to her first cousin.
So if the author of article wanted to point this out she should have been honest in the example she was citing.
