What's new

From Arabization to Turkfication Ertugrul and Pakistani Nationalism

Or maybe you should read what I said again?

I said the only native Pakistani empire were the Pashtuns and the Punjabi Sikh empires

Not all Afghan empires were Pukhtoon. We viewed Sikh empire as occupiers.

Your sense of history is a bit off.

Damn bro, beat him online? Must he tough :o:

@Itachi I am not fighting anyone, but this guy tried to join with Indians and others against me, even tried to use my personal life against me. Alhamdulilah I did not tell him much about me, as he wanted me to. I had a bad feeling from the beginning.

He is not a good person, suffice to say I am done with him. May Allah swt give him Hidayat and Hikmat.

Let us talk about more positive things.

That is because I do not accept their narrative that Pakistanis do not know our heritage.

We can all trace our lineages by clan, village, and shajaratul nasab. Any true Pakistani will know that.

We are confident and have a healthy relationship with our identity. Being friends with Turks and Arabs does not lessen our sense of ourselves.

I was planning visit Pakistan with my wife. I have done a lot of study onthis subject. It would be a great experience for us to discover the magnificent nature of Northern Pakistan valleys of course after feeling the historical and cultural texture . However, Covid has turned all our plans upside down, at least for near future.

But I'm sure there is a heart-to-heart bridge between our societies. I hope this deep love bond will be our greatest legacy that we will leave to our next generations.

My friends keep asking me to come to Turkey, I have friends from all over your country, even rural areas. I was planning a visit also with my family, but COVID.

Pakistan has a vibrant and diverse culture. All climates and geographical zones. Like Turkey, Pakistan is on the crossroads of different areas (ME, Central Asia, and South Asia.)

i like the way she covers the sofas like my mothers used to:)it reminds my memories, god bless Pakistan

I was shocked when I began watching Turkish dramas and meeting more friends from Turkey, our cultures are so alike in many ways.

Suggest the triangle. Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore and Northern Areas.

"arabization"
There is. I agree with @OsmanAli98 that since 1970s post Arab oil bonanza we have seen a process of Arabization in Pakistani society. Khuda Hafiz replaced with Allah Hafiz, increasing use of the Arab robes as dress, most religious parties are permeated with Arab influence. The problem is this takes us on path to the most backward part of the Muslim world ~ Arabian peninsula. The high mark of Muslim civilization was in Baghdad, Cairo, Granada, Esfahan, Istanbul.

The process of Turkification which will take place if Turkish series like Ertrugul make inroads into Pakistan is a good thing. It will prime our people for the evolution turkey has seen. Not Bollywood. Not Saudization.

pre Islamic history unlike Iraq and Egypt or Iran
Why not? And do you want me to list the invasions and colonization you have been through?

My dad left prior to the 1977 coup and he remembers the country prior to the pseudo-arabaization and oil bonaza days everyone use to say Khuda Hafiz and my dad still uses it more often when I first went to Pakistan in like 2004 I remember using Khuda Hafiz a couple of my relatives had to "correct" me by saying Allah Hafiz another funny story in like the late 2000s my pops who was like in his late 50s wore like shorts to the Wagah border ceremony and the guard was like we aint having this made him get trousers again as a kid it was weird but as grew up I understood that changes in the society occcured at least two decades prior to me being born the Soviet Afghan war and the 1979 revolt in Iran led to that, anyways I am all for the Turkish influence to seep in maybe it will lead our people to question our past mistakes and look into reforming our society and no I am not saying women in bikinis or thongs or worse f..g pride events I am saying lets focus on building this country and stop focusing on who what wears blah blah and who is religious or not we have to evolve or we will die

@Indus Pakistan there is gonna be more culture shocks that Pakistanis will have to go thorugh as we get integrated in the new Eurasian sphere and it might not be pretty at least unlike the pork eating Chinese the Turks will be nicer to us and "kinda advise" us on how to fix ourselves

This khuda hafiz v Allah Hafiz is a myth created by a blogger.. which was forst published in some paper and taken by indian media.

Unlike you ppl we live in Pakistan, and say whatever we like Allah Hafiz/Khuda Hafiz and in 30 years of my existence i have yet to see someone correct me.

Your personal experiences dont define a country of 210 million people..

Arabisation lol, what are the clear cut examples of that?

Over the long term the question is do we aim to join which block?

  • the west [Eurasia] with Turkey as foci
  • the east with India as foci
  • north with China as foci
Me personally Eurasia wins without a quiver of doubt. I want to be able to drive from Islamabad-Tehran-Ankara or Islamabad-Kabul-Dushanbe-Tashkent like they do in Europe.

unbeknownst to them they have imported court drama of the Persian 'nobles' from UP.

This irony is just too cute an opportunity to pass by

Be serious man, but again even I find threads like these ridiculous to say the least.

Its a fukin drama , get over it. But no some clowns have gotta make a hill out of a molehill.

Bc log khachra tou garbage bin mein daltay nahin tum social changes dramas aay lay k ao gai?

Education will change it, nothing else.. none of this topi drama.

Probably the term 'Saudisation' might be appropriate. And it's late here in UK and I don't have time to write a thesis but without any doubt over the preceeding 40 years Saudi influence on Pakistan society has been profound.
Not really, you people like to post (pics from 60s onwards) was only the elite minority which aped the west (still do)... not the people..

Sames the case with afghanistan.. where you show a few chicks in mini skirts from the Soviet times but they never represented the ground realities of the nations.

Only thing that change was that bhutto and than zias policies of banning anything they deemed non islamic.. and most people were okay with it.

Even today everything is happening but yeah even the worst zani portrays himself as a izzatdar muslaman.. thats the only thing that has changed.

i am very serious.

you can turn back time and go to Akbars court. he used to have these 'intellectual' debates for court leisure.

do you think theology just go away?

and honestly it was never a good idea to promote provincialism intermingled with 'ethnicity'.

When India finishes up with conditioning Muslims there. Indira doctrine will ensure Jai Sri Ram would be a cool secular thing to do.

It is what it is !!

I had some good friendships with Arabs of various backgrounds. As stated before I do speak Classical Arabic. I found Yemenis closest to Pakistanis, from cultural perspective. They, like us, are very diverse racially and ethnically.

Without the opulence wealth and toxic culture that riches have made to them, Gulf and Peninsular Arabs traditionally were very down to Earth and humble people.

Its hard for folks under 35 or even 20 like me to understand Pakistan prior to the 1980s was hell out of different place

Saudisation is better term leads to more better understanding

Last time I checked Pakistanis are the largest pool of scholarships in China
