When is France getting Algeria or Indochina back?

On topic: English Channel saved the English; Vastness and strategic depth saved Russia in WW2. Surrender criticism is unfair, especially when one considers the exploits of Napoleon.

Decolonization was an ongoing process that would have forced France to abandon all of its colonies as it wasn't viable anymore,in one way or another. I anyways,support every people's right to self determination.

what difference does it make ? you are comparing 2 rivals dependent on foreign states for weapons with first world countries that have mastered military technologies

There is massive disparity in comparison.

1. west Pakistan population ie Bangali were against union with Pakistan thus Pakistan Army eastern command was fighting both Indian and local population.

USA should know from Vietnam and Afghanistan that when locals are against you, you cannot win. Hence the real reason of surrender was local population, had the population sided with Pakistan than the surrender was out of question.

So not its not bad.

It does make a difference. Only portion of Pakistan Army surrendered but main chunk of Pakistan Army being the western command withheld its ground and protected territory.

Whereas France lost whole of its nation to Germany even when the population was on its side and it had no barrier in providing supply to its troops.

The Wehrmacht was deadly. they overran countries carving them like Swiss Chess. It took the full military industrial might of USA, USSR and British Empire to defeat them

Pakistan has never fought a full fledged war more than 2 or 3 weeks with India. When you do not have a military industrial base you will fold. You do not have the money to fight a long high intensity war.
