The Indian government is seeking to close the negotiation over the acquisition of 126 Rafale fighter jets within six months, newspaper Les Echos reports, quoting Eric Trappier, the international director from French airplane manufacturer Dassault Aviation SA (>> DASSAULT AVIATION).

The Dassault executive expects the negotiations will end with a firm order. The Indian government selected Dassault for exclusive negotiations on the order, estimated to be worth $10 billion.

Trappier also said Brazil's bidding process for 36 fighter jets, estimated to be worth as much as $5 billion, is still frozen by the government.

For the Brazilian contract, Boeing Co. (BA) has offered its F-18 Super Hornet against Dassault's Rafale and Gripen aircraft from Swedish manufacturer Saab (SAAB-B.SK). Brazilian government officials have recently hinted they are leaning toward the purchase of Rafale aircraft after the Indian government picked Dassault.

So indian purchase helped France to get a higher position in Brazil

Question should india ask the French or the Russians or Americans or isrealis to buy some weapons from us
I mean we award them multibillion dollar projects
They should buy something from us in return
Like brazil asked America to buy Super tuanco

Question we should ask first is whether we have anything to sell them, that they cannot make by themselves.

Brazil did not "ask America" to buy super tucano, and the American forces have not bought any. The US navy has leased one, to investigate a concept of CAS for their seals. If they find such a use to be productive, they will ask one of the American companies to build such an aircraft for them. Other than that, a certain private security firm (blackwater) may (or may not) have purchased a few.

What exactly are you proposing to sell, that they have a need for, and that India can make better than their own companies? That is why we are buying from them - and we can't expect them to behave any differently. Supply and demand.

You could sell them the FGFA.
