What's new

France ? You'll like it !

They are Dutch as far as I am aware. They even come with a windmill picture on them over here.

Some are acquired taste, they put caraway seeds in them and things.

Swiss Cheeses are somewhat different. We get Emmental, appenzeller and a few others here that are imported. They are somewhat expensive. There is also generic swiss cheese made by kraft and some others....which is cheap and does the job for a sandwich.....but not good on its own :P

I thought they are swiss.

Or may be its like Tobasco. Origin is from mexico but best one comes from USA.

Pas trop Montréal, plus Québec pour ma part!

C'est vrai, Quebec city is even better. But I can't be so choosy since Montreal pays my bills being strong city industrially too :P

strictly personal but I'm glad you're near Outaouais!
Ottawa is the drab/quaint capital ... of the world!!!

It was chosen as a compromise to begin with. Upper Canada wanted York (Toronto)...Lower Canada Frenchies wanted Quebec city or Montreal to be the capital......so they picked one on the border of both :). Hence quaint nature from the start.

Canada those days (before federation really expanded westwards)...was like a big version of Belgium....the bilingual rivalry is still there today even. I know both languages so I get along with everyone :D....more should do the same!

Maybe because they all look somewhat similar (large rounds with notable rind).

But Gouda and Edam do not have the typical Swiss "holes".....so thats a giveaway they are not Swiss hehe (its a somewhat bad distinction but its fine for cheese noobs like you :P). All cheeses can be made in other areas in the "manner" of where they originated....but as far as I am aware you can only label it as Edam-style etc...not just the name due to IP issues.

@Taygibay @Nilgiri

I prefer this personally. :P

I should confine myself to " Jamahir Bashing " only.

Cheeses are too confusing for me anyway:D

France is the most complete country in the world.

For its rich history, intricate culture, haute couture that capture world's imagination, to intellectual giants from yesteryears in all fields of science, mathematics, philosophy and the arts, to industry, diversified economy and industrial basis, to natural landscape and extensive public transportation, health benefits and social welfare, to Europe's foremost military power, and most independent military industry in Europe.

Cuisine, culture, intellect, diversity of landscapes and architecture, science, technology and philosophy, history and sophistication, independence of mind and spirit, France has it all.

Every other country misses out on some part here.
