Whats really happening is that France is at a conflict of interest in this alliance. This alliance exists to sell maximum American weaponry to allies ("White" countries) so that in case of a war there can be a force multiplier effect and there should be intra operability. Most countries don't make much weapons, France does and wanted to earn something off them. America just killed the deal for France. Now France would have no option but to sell these to middle east or somewhere else.

Switzerland's decision is weird for many reasons.It's not about the Rafale or France.
They didn't go European by buying Gripen,which they used to lease from Sweden nor did they at least upgrade their F/A-18s to Super Hornet from the Americans. A country like Switzerland,which always had a relatively small army and was always neutral in modern history,decided to buy a 5th generation stealth fighter,which is contrary to the defensive doctrine of Switzerland and its tradition of having a small Air Force.
They also decided to buy Patriot systems. There's something going on with the Americans and the Swiss.
