It was India's biggest foreign policy disaster but something today, most Indian politicians and pro-India experts want to brush underneath the rug.

Majority of their leadership was and still is christian. The thing that binds them is that they are tamil.

but religion is the last resort of the scoundrel, so he'll bring it in at every opportunity.

This was back in 1984. Everyone knows abt it. it was not one way tho, an attempt was being made in SL to kick out tamilians. the tamil riots were fresh and the 'sinhala only act' was already old. The tamil tigers were a rebel group then, not terrorist.

Saddam had christian in his govt in high postion.......the palestinians have christians in there ranks......the kashmriri freedom fighetrs have hindus and sikhs in there groups also.

In general it is a hindu minority against the majority buddhist.....a few christians here and there does not change the fact.

I would like to point out the tamils where discriminated against and only after that did the tamils in southern india with indian govt help got involved.......a lot like the kashmir issue.

baseless. nobody is backing them. not even sri lankan govt says that, only U know. the video is of 1984, the situation was different, the trouble was exported into india after the 1983 anti tamil riots.

The mistake was not supporting the tamil cause, the mistake was supporting people who are essentially unaccountable for their actions - tamil tigers. the mistake has been rectified at the risk of local tamilians (a good 60 million of them) creating trouble for india.

I wonder why the Pakistanis are rediscovering the wheel again and again. This a whole truth the whole India knows since early 90s. So why are Pakistanis claiming to have found it two decades after we found it ourselves.

That was a mistake and we paid for it and have made sure LTTE pays for it too.
