I don't think Punjab assembly has passed any such motion with two third majority before which is a requirement for such division. A simple motion was passed i think but not with two third majority.

You must be naive. Almost 20+ politicians joined PTI before 2018 election on the promise that PTI will create south Punjab province. They had no hope from PMLN so they bet on PTI. Now PTI is just fulfilling its promise. And if you have friends from South Punjab zones, try asking them about South Punjab. They are demanding separate province since decades now.

Bro for any change to geographical details of a province, you need go ahead (2/3rd majority) from not just parliament but also the exact province you want to break in pieces. IK need 2/3rd in Sindh to make Karachi province, if he have 2/3rd in Sindh they he don't need to make Karachi as he already have 2/3rd. It's a bit of dilemma.

I'm not sure if you favour division of Punjab or not but you can surely be more positive in your thinking. Pakistan is one country and we own and love all of it. When South Punjab is being made a province, it matters that's why it is being given a provincial capital and a budget of its own, as well governance by it sown people.

You wouldn't find many opponents to practicality in Pakistan. Everyone wants to lessen the administrative burden. It's not some Socratic fiction copyrighted by one or the other political party or reality.

Government simply doesn't have the intellectual capacity to pull this through. Why not start with something smaller like making Khyber a different province and Pakhtunkhwa a different province. The recently formed South Punjab secretariat is hardly functional nor ground level preparation sorted.

This will only lead to a futile polity.

You want to divided KP which doesn't have a demand for it and not divide Punjab which wants to be divided? I thought you cared for South Punjab but looks like you don't.

Why don't you jump in and give PTI government a hand in better governance? You know they are sincere in helping South Punjab as Usman Buzdar despite opposition is given a chance to improve South Punjab and direct funds towards the region that needs it the most. When there's honesty of intention, Help of Allah will be with them as well.
