@Evgeny

If you have a chance to visit Vietnam, I can recommend you Phan Thiet City and surrounding areas like Cam Ranh Bay (military base) and Nha Trang beach. These places are loved by Russian tourists, with many shops offering staffs speaking Russian.

Phan Thiet City in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan has become a popular destination for Russian tourists, with Russia ranking 10th on Vietnam's list of top tourism markets.

Previously, most Russian visitors travelled to Vietnam to avoid the winter in their homeland, but now many Russians visit the coastal tourist sites of Phan Thiet, Nha Trang and Da Nang even during the summer months.

According to travel companies, Da Nang International Airport receives an average of one charter flight bringing around 200 Russian visitors every day. Additionally, there are expected to be 12,000 Russian tourists travelling to Da Nang from the end of May to August this year.

Tourism experts say that Russian travellers are attracted to Vietnam’s wild and beautiful beaches.

In January this year, many Russian visitors were thankful for the efforts made by Vietnamese authorities to get stranded visitors back home after the Russian travel company Lanta Tour Voyage suddenly declared bankruptcy. Binh Thuan Province authorities and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism were extremely helpful to Russian tourists who were stranded in Vietnam.

The country receives about 18,000-19,000 Russian visitors each month
, a year-on-year increase of 56 per cent in the first five months which recorded 86,681 travellers. Russian tourists have become a vital part of the Vietnamese tourism industry particularly in the coastal provinces.

Perfect! One day I will vist Vietnam!

Once I had a neighbor, old Soviet officer, who served in anti aircraft rocket unit in Vietnam during the war with US.
He told me a lot of interesting stuff of braveness of Vietnamese militarymen:)

Thailand is more pro American, than pro Chinese, no?

Thailand plays a neutral role, or it vows to play with the mighty. That´s the reason why Thailand is the only country in Asia which was never colonized by Western or Eastern powers.

This will be a very important asset for Vietnam for sea denial role.

Yes it equipped with cruise missiles.

It looks like that you can ask some tolls from japanese oil ships.

Great Soviet helped VN to control Cambodia-Laos and assaulted Thailand from 1979 to 1988.So,it won't be our big problem to assault them to kick Chinese-Thai King's butt again. Both of us will surely gain a huge benefit there:D

By your 4 Gepard 3.9s and 6 kilos ? are you sure?

For some who wants to build the canal:

The Thai canal connecting Andaman sea and Gulf of Thailand would cost $25 billion, according to a Chinese estimate. The route could be built on Malaysia soil, too.

Gazprom energy resources first shipped via Northern Sea Route

The Gazprom headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company's Management Committee and Sergey Frank, Director General of Sovcomflot.

The parties addressed cooperation issues, including the arrangement of hydrocarbons transportation via the Northern Sea Route (NSR). Energy resources shipped significantly faster via Northern Sea Route than via traditional route, i.e. Suez Canal.

Sergey Frank informed Alexey Miller that the SCF Amur carrier had successfully completed her voyage. The vessel was the first to deliver a cargo of petroleum products owned by Gazprom Neft via the new high-latitude NSR.

The SCF Amur vessel covered the NSR in record time for 2012 summer navigation – 7 days. Therefore, energy resources are shipped significantly faster via the Northern Sea Route than via the traditional route, i.e. the Suez Canal.

MOSCOW, December 5 (RIA Novosti) – A tanker operated by Russian gas giant Gazprom has made the first delivery of liquefied natural gas to Japan from Europe via the Northern Sea Route, Gazprom said on Wednesday.
“The tanker arrived at the re-gasification terminal in the port of Tobata (Japan) after sailing from Hammerfest (Norway) with a cargo of LNG on November 7,” the energy giant said in a statement.
The Northern Sea Route is a shipping lane from the Atlantic to the Pacific running along Russia's Arctic coast from Murmansk on the Barents Sea, along Siberia, to the Bering Strait and Far East.
The Gazprom-chartered LNG carrier Ob River was accompanied on November 9-18 by Russian nuclear-powered ice breakers. The voyage was completed on schedule and without incident. The tanker delivered the cargo after traveling empty from Japan to Europe in October.
“The two voyages by the OB River tanker in one navigation period have fully confirmed the technical and commercial suitability of the Northern Sea Route for international LNG supplies,” the statement said.
The tanker’s successful voyage gives grounds to expect a full-fledged use of the Northern Sea Route for LNG supplies both to the Asia-Pacific Region and the European market, Gazprom said.

But how they avoided being colonized themselves?

Vietnam lying at a strategical location at the South China Sea was what other Western and Eastern powers wanted. Even today nearly all important and less important nations want to get some influence on Vietnam.

The Thai´s helped others to occupy Vietnam, the price they received was independence. Actually historically Thailand feared Vietnamese ambition, so it was more than willing to support others to hold down Vietnam.
