AS if the two 33-35 year old Agosta 70's of PN are properly operational.
India has to deal with only 3 pak submarines so the 12 submarines + 2 under refit are more than enough.

Only 3-4 of China's subs has the capability to reach IOR.

Sorry, its 7 submarine that has the capabilties to reach IOR. 3 Type 093 SSN, 1 Type091G SSN and 3 Type094SSBN.

Agreed with your post , but still we are way ahead then ours neighbors. Loss of submarine will not make big difference ,only it will make india to lease another Akula class submarine.

I think we should think about Russian offer about jointly develop subs..we need this capability desperately..we actually can jointly develop something on Amur(more capable version) and armed it with long range missiles..this P-75 or P-75I means sh!t in terms of indigenisation...

by the way,is P-75 and P-75I is coming with full tech transfer???

Under P-75, Scorpeans are being built in India with full TOT.

The primary focus of the Indian Navy is the Project-75 India (P-75i) programme wherein the acquisition of six new stealth submarines, equipped with both tube-launched missiles for land-attack capabilities as well as AIP (air-independent propulsion) for enhanced underwater capability, is envisaged. The plan is to directly import two submarines from the foreign collaborator eventually selected, with the next three being built at MDL in Mumbai, and the sixth at Hindustan Shipyard in Visakhapatnam under transfer of technology.

In such case , I wonder , what would you call the INS Viraat which is nearly 60 years old and expected to serve until 2020 ? The Agosta 70 class submarines are not outdated or technologically outmatched , even at the moment so the Pakistani submarines consists of 5 operational submarines , which are more than a match for Indian submarine fleet . Not to mention that the Indian Navy is planning to retire the 4 U209 submarines . If there's one thing , I do not like , it is distortion of facts . Google and compare the both now , there isn't much difference .

on other hand when china out numbers india atleast by 7:1 (70+ vs 11-12), not only indians laugh it way but also call chinese navy as shipping boats
the same can be told about chinese frigates and destroyers while china operate nearly 80+ india only operate upto 26..
most of chinese destroyers are either russian imported or russian based some are french based..superior and better than india

reality is that chinese navy is now only second to USA and the number of ships they are building is enormous..the indigenous industry with cheaper home built equipments with addition to enourmous military budget second to USA only is driving their militery to beyond what india might even think

China has a very strong Navy in it's region but it does not have capability to project power.

In IOR, Indian Navy is second strongest Navy and chinese, until they develop blue water capabilities could not challenge it.

That's debatable,Let me tell you,our Shivalik and Kolkata class are very capable ships

What does that have to do?Consider the number of j 16s,We have proven mig 29Ks in service

Your whole understanding is flawed,the chinese navy is much larger ofcourse but we laugh because it has no power projection capability in the IOR.All those huge numbers of subs can't operate so far from their home bases except a handful noisy nuke subs which even our diesel fleet outnumbers.
We have carriers and much more exp at that. And our surface ships are every bit as capable.We also have more naval warfare experience and do more exrecises.Neither is our command hindered by political commisars.
Any chinese task force entering IOR,will be attacked from our unsinkable carrier at andaman with sukhois and p-8is from the air raining hell.Subs from underneath and surface ships as well.
We laugh at the comparison because u fools always make paper comparsions rather than consider the actual realistic scenario that involves geography.Without taking geography into account the paper figures are meaningless.

Doesn't it happen that the Chinese Navy and Indian Navy operate the same class of improved Kilo-class submarines ? Also , the new Song class are quieter than any submarines - that Chinese have ever produced and knowing their production speed , they can induct more number of those subs faster than Indian Navy . Doesn't it make a difference here ?

No china uses 10 636M type,india after modernization 10[-1?]877EKM.
China also has 2 original 877 class.Generally type 636 is improvement of 877,but chinese subs lack some systems due to russian export restriction.

While both can use klub anti ship missile,the chinese kilo mk as far as i know doesn't have the klub-s land attack cruise missile that wasn't cleared by russian defense ministry for export to china,but to india and vietnam.Also sensors and sonar systems of the upgraded indian subs[foremost of which was the sunk sub]are more modern.

Type 636 however is quieter than type 877.
