Fatwa against modelling by Muslim women

There are fatwas and ruling on these issues, already in place.

Abiding by Fatwas is a personal matter, for every individual. Religious scholar's responsibilty is to make the particular issue clear and transparent, in view of Sharia. That is what this fatwa did.

Well said! It's religious leaders duty to warn muslim from committing great sin but it's up to an individual decision to follow it or not. At the end of the day, It's Allah who will decide our fate.

Comercial based modeling is haram for muslim women in all aspect though not many cares now a days.

You usually require fatwah which is not written in the Holy Quran or in Ahadees. But backbiting, lying, foul language, hatred etc are were forbidden in the Holy Qur'an and Ahadees.

Correct me if I am wrong sir, even modesty is recommended and wearing revealing clothes is forbidden in Islam right? So based on your own logic, why fatwas regarding that?

Also even though we have chapters on Islam against hate, prejudice etc. we see that a lot of muslims today are filled with those same qualities, especially because the world is sort-of united against us :(. So is it not of greater importance to stress the importance of patience, discipline, remaining free from hate etc?

Also, there are dress-code requirements for men too and yet I see models wearing tight suitings [without shirts] exposing their six-packs. Just as we find a healthy women's exposed body attractive, women too find healthy men dressing in such an "immodest" way attractive. [Correct?] So why no fatwas against such things?

I have been noticing that a few Indian members are coming up with topics that are pretty debatable (also flammable at times) and on which we Pakistanis have some sort of divide, such as this topic. Fatwa against modelling by Muslim women

We Pakistanis may have divide over religion as every Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Parsi etc living in Pakistan IS Pakistani and has right to be on this forum (Defense Forum). Even in Muslims, we have Fundamentalist (not you Mr. Fundamentalist but in general ) and Secular people on this forum. And different people have different point of view.

Many a time we deviate from defense topics and start debating on religion. Many a times there are discussions, many a times there are fights. I believe that this being Defense Forum, there shouldn't be discussion on religion at all.

Fitwah is given in the light of Quran and Hadeeth. You will find fatwahs on each and every single thing nowadays. We can only debate if the fatwah is wrong. Since the fatwah is not colliding with the teachings of Islam it doesn't matter how many times Ullema's continue giving same fatwah.

Because we are bad muslims. We are not following the commandments of Allah given in the Holy Qur'an.

There fatwah is there for mens also. You have not just read it. It is very common among non-muslims they attack only on womens rights.............. i am not talking about your religion just giving a general statement.

There is something called "Satr". It is for both mens and Womens but usually people read about womens only and neglect the mens part.

I wonder if these Muftis ever release Fatwas about the killing of the innocent in the hands of terrorists such as taliban and al qaeda? they are quite busy ruling the other things out, but they are damn silent(majority of them) about killing people.

Our "Darool-Uloom Deoband" has already issued Fatwa against terrorism in India.

Darool-Uloom Deoband issues fatwa against terrorism

June 2, 2008
An ultra-conservative Islamic seminary that has inspired extremist groups including the Taleban has issued a fatwa against terrorism, in what is believed to be the first edict of its kind.

The Darool-Uloom Deoband, a 150 year-old India-based institution that holds influence over thousands of smaller Islamic schools across the subcontinent, many of which have attracted British students in recent years, issued the fatwa at an outdoor peace conference attended by thousands of clerics and students in Delhi.

Clarifying there. I don't have a religion technically, but I consider muslims my brethren. Heck, all my relatives are muslims, how would I not!?!? So to say, I belong to the muslim community, and I am COMPLETELY aware as to how the international media as well as non-muslims use every opportunity [even create opportunities] to bash Islam.:hitwall::sniper:

Having said that, I still feel that fatwas are more likely to be issued against women =D. Also, my chacha [they live in toronto], has no problems with the way his sons dress, but he expects that he daughter wears hijab. And I've seen this amongst other people in our community too. We control over women a LOT.

What about ladies who wear skirts & play tennis - Sania Mirza perhaps ?

It's haram in the eye of Islam but she wear it. It has not become halal just becasue some Islamic name tennis star wear it.

Is such interference in a persons personal affairs necessary ? I have often wondered how is it that a Gent somewhere rules what is right / wrong for the entire community ?

... and do / should the people meekly agree ?

Being muslim is the total submission to Allah and sharia is the law of Allah so all muslim obligated to obey it if wish to live like a mumin. There is no individual choice when comes to Sharia. Eating pork is haram so there is no individual or entir muslim world effort can make it halal under normal circumstances.

well i can't say about chacha but the dress-code is for both Mens and the womens.

1) You cannot wear the dress that resembles (or a symbol of) any other religion

2) You cannot wear too tight dress that your private body parts becomes visible

3) You cannot wear too light dress that your inner body parts are visible

and there are few more objections in the dress-code and this applies for both male and the female.

Now it is upto your chacha or other muslims whether they preach islam only to their daughters and not sons or both.
