Extremism was a bi product of our strategic depth policy. We HAD to be involved in Afghanistan. Now since we are a nuclear power, instead of SD, our nuclear power is our 'deterrent', therefore indulging in Afghanistan is no longer a priority. Since then we just talk but no action to uplift situation in FATA.

It is a chicken egg problem. Did G.B people make large protests to demand their status or was there an education campaign to tell that they need it. The current political elite who are violating constitution since almost 7 years and or not conducting L.B elections for full control are never going to do that. It is a day dreaming. Further, they have handed over the mess to the ones who created it, our army.

It is the states responsibility to take care of tis citizens regardless of if they want to or not. Equal rights and equal opportunities are the rights of citizens.

If it was upto me----I would rather have 20 counties of Pakistan right away----smaller units---easy to manage---easy for progress---and then they also break the ethnic divide.

Another issue that I have is when politicians start talking about no knew cantonments in Baluchistan or fata. Ask a Pakistani---where would you like to live---if you have a choice---they would say---in defence housing society.

Now where do defence housing societies come from----cantonments. Where are nice shopping malls and businesses----in or around defence housings.

Since the beginning of time----when there were regular armies and they had forts----the forst and military camps brught business and created business and residential communities that thrived on cantonments.

All of the united states----or Australia----were pretty much military forts in the beginning. I feel bad for Baluchistan----when Musharraf wanted to build new cantonments---all the opposition were against it.
