Coming back to "family planning". The concept of having smaller families is rational. However it is totally irrational in the the way it is implemented in Pakistan. Distributing condoms among poverty stricken masses will not reduce the family size. Reduction of poverty, access to schooling will.

Family size has the correlation with "chances of survival" within a generation and across generations. Poor parents know that some of the kids will perish before reaching the average or expected life. So they tend to have more to hedge against the pre-mature death of some of these kids.

Urbanized families on the other hand do not live with similar level of disease and death, and thus automatically dial down the number of kids.

Humans are not stupid when it comes to survival. It is one of the basic instincts.

Remove death, decease, hunger, poverty, lack of schooling and you will see the size of family will go down within a generation. In few generations you can in fact see a negative number on the population growth like in industrialized world.

Some say it is a catch 22. more kids than what you can afford means poverty, and poverty breads lack of jobs. Sort of vicious circle.

But the day our Zardaris stop being inept and corrupt, jobs will increase and economy will be better.

When a child is still in the womb of mother Allah wrote three things for that kid; how much would be given, when will the death come and where will it come.
Didn't you the story of Prophet Solomon/Suleyman (AS) that he (AS) decided to feed the whole world and every creature and then what happened?

And for having many children;

One man came to Nabī SallAllāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam and said: “I have come across a lady of high status and beauty. However she is infertile. May I marry her?” He (SallAllāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam) replied: “No”. The man came a second time and Nabī SallAllāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam again said: “No”. Then the man came a third time and Nabī SallAllāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam replied: “Marry a lady who is very loving and able to bear many children because the large number of my Ummah will be a source of pride over the other nations.” (Abu Dawūd)

more kids does not mean more money and more hand, if a poor man has more kids he could not feed them, then the kids can't go school, that means they will remain uneducated and will do unskilled jobs.they will remain poor , but they will also think "more kids = more hands more money " ..and will produce more children..and the story continues.


other than this there are many problems of over population which we know, huge burden on govt to support them, housing, pollution, decreasing resources, list is endless..

Well my dear dear poster, challenging some assertions of some dead old baba ji is not a sin. Or at least do not make a sin, lest one makes a movie and more Mooooolahs would be burning down consulates and killing ambassadors.

Please do not thrown around things. Give some quotation. Without proper context, your sentence above is utterly false at least in terms of "how much would he get". There are millions of children and other species starving to death (or have already starved to death). May be their death got written for only 3 days after the womb.

What sort of nun-sense people are peddling in the name of Islam. It just boggles my mind.

Then they say Westerners make fun of this mumbo jumbo. Why wouldn't they? If we the Pakistanis are spreading jokes in the name of Islam without ever using the biggest naimat Allah gave us: nutz! (ok for sane people it is brain).

People quote Quran out of context, and then you quote those people. This is how people spread Jahiliyya, the looting, the burning, the death, and the destruction.
