If i remember correctly, He actually does want free and fair elections, they even offered it and suggested it be under UN Supervision. That's one of the things that he offered and Russia and others said as well lately. However the "rebels" don't want a free and fair election and so doesn't the west. That's why they had the "Assad must go" rhetoric all this time. Because if there was a free and fair election that was UN supervised, and whoever is allowed to enter, including Assad, there is a good chance he'll win. A pretty good one actually.

I think the Syrian people should be allowed to choose whoever they want. And the other groups will have to accept it.

The independent report you like to cite was not mandated to tell anyone who did it, just confirm if a chemical weapon attack took place. They did name two cities that were attacked by shells and the trajectory of shells... and other experts pointed it to be coming from Syrian-controlled side.

There are conflicting reports, first of all...if those were weapons, it's the most stupid thing ever to just have them lying around like that. Some say that it's containers that have been been inspected by the OPCW,
and one source is saying that those are oxidative material which are used for the SA-2, SA-6.

I'll wait for the investigation and proof rather than jump to conclusions.
My guess, as the way they are just lying around like that, they are Oxidative material. But that's all it is, a guess, so far.

I second that. usa has a general pattern of using these types of "proofs" to start attacks. Mostly the henchman like isis or nusra does the jon like chem attacks.
