What's new

FA-50 and JF-17 are the finalists for Malaysian Air Force's Deal: Korea Times

The Malaysian govt. Wants "off sets", from who ever wins the contract.
They also dont want to pay it all in hard cash but also want a certain percentage to be barter eg the seller takes palm oil as part of the payment.
Pakistan is a major importer of Malaysian palm oil.

And , the winner is................

*As per the Indians it is Tejas

in their wet dreams.. sure
In a couple of months, this news report will no longer be accurate. A RMAF team is due to visit India in the next couple of months to evaluate the Tejas and get acquainted with HAL's production line and other facilities.

And you are saying this on what basis ?

If the Tejas was eliminated from the contest, why would a RMAF team visit? The report came from sources within HAL.

Although, right now I think that given the second wave of Wuhan virus in India, the visit will likely be postponed.

Has the RMAF visited yet? Been 2 weeks, I think. Surely if the trip was postponed it would be reported.

Forgot to add, the JF-17 should also do a demonstration of its long endurance with inflight refueling; in a long range strike configuration. Malaysia is larger then in seems, and if they can base tankers through out the country, then a few JF-17 in dispersed locations can be brought to bear at a single point through the use of air to air refuelers.
1300Km Radius is a great range of JF17 without external fuel tanks, where F16s is around 850Kms...

Can someone confirm if this in hi lo hi format with max weight without external fuel tanks?

1300km is with external drop tanks and/or air 2 air refueling isn't it?

Ferry range on 3 tanks 3000 km combat range in a2a with three tanks plus a2a load ~1300 km

A2g range with 3x tanks plus a2g load about 1000km with hi-lo-high profile

Without tanks drops by couple of hundred as tanks have drag plus fuel so you donot get same mileage

J-10 a2a same configuration ~1800 km
A2g same configuration n/a

Considering am-39 with max 50 km range actual combat conditions about 30 km

Vs c-802 and Akg with 180 and 230 km and actual combat say 70-75 % range still far far greater capability

1,300+ KM
with 3 external fuel tanks + plus 2 WVR missiles + 2 BVR missiles

1,300 km range is not for Air to Ground role

I find it hard to believe J-10 a2a same configuration is ~1800 km. Where did you get it from?

Can't believe there are people so gullible as to believe this 1300 km as the radius for the JF-17 without external fuel tanks. It's a JOKE.
