Yes buddy this is geopolitics - the N-Liability bill is specifically for US companies - Do you think the US will just back us like that for a deal.

What do you think they would have discussed over 5 years of long negotiations - How many reactors they will be supplying, how much will we pay for them, etc etc.....

IT WAS A DEAL - U GET US CIVILIAN NUCLEAR TECH WE GIVE U HALF THE BENEFITS - WE EFFECTIVELY BOUGHT THE TECH FROM THEM AND WE ARE PAYING BY BUYING REACTORS FROM THEIR FIRMS! AS SIMPLE!

But then again that can be changed only in the middle of next decade probable when India would have sufficient mussle to flex.

If US agrees with India and stops F16 sale to Pak, India buys the F18. India gets a good plane, also stops the enemy from getting its aircraft.Anyway when the time comes to use F-18 we wont be, they will be hanger queens.

If on the other hand US disagrees, India gets an excuse to discard F18 and look at Rafale and Typhoon. In this case also India gets a good plane and also can blame US itself for not listening to India earlier.

Nothing that India will lose here.

Things are not that simple there is no way in hell that pakistan will sit by and watch us buy 126 fighter jets without buying 126/4=32(approx.).They can do that by themselves, get aid and buy, buy JF-XX and fit with upgraded missiles or radars, electronics etc.

If we dont buy american ire will be on us and more pressure to buy nuclear(death) reactors.

Guys.. Like energy, diplomatic capital can not be destroyed or created. It accumulates and transfers.. And this comment (if true) by Indian establishment is just aimed at creating some of that diplo capital with the US.

Nothing will change whether US listens to India or not. In all probability, it will not. And I suspect India knows it. However, it will become another bargaining chip next time INdia and US talk. Just like Pakistan uses Indo US Nuclear deal as a chip in all its negotiations with US

It is not hidden by either Pakistan or India that the reason why USA meddles with our issues are to just to gain its own benefits.Here USA is clearly trying to take adcantage of the arms race between India and pakistan and earn profit for its defence industry..so its very much possible that $10 bn deal is lucrative enough to influence its strategies.Though in any case he remains the gainer.

You seem to be misinformed. Its ok for PAF to buy more planes. It doesn't affect us. We have so many purchases in the pipeline(MRCA, PakFa, Mig29, LCA,MCA), its just no way Pakistan can threaten us.

Regarding the reactors, they are not death reactors. France gets almost all of its electricity from these reactors. The whole world wants more reactors. We too want hundreds of reactors in the coming decades. So its good we are going for nuclear deal.

There has just been one incident in nuclear history(Chernobyl) and that too was due to improper operation. Don't worry about reactors.

But then u cannot ignore the fact that America has spent a lot of money in Afghanistan war and it will continue to spend more, if Pakistan retreats its support & Americans are completely aware of this fact, so will they not give f-16's to Pakistan? I think not
