So--here is Lexus---one of the finest auto makers of luxury cars----. Makes a Tier 1 sports car---and guess what---no sales---who could have thought of that at Toyota / Lexus---.

For the 2012 model---Lexus build 500 of them---they are sitting at the dealer car lots---only 17 have been sold so far---and this is February 2015

Pakistan and China should continue to develop and market the aircraft
the global economy has not fully come out of recession so many nations are weary of making large defense purchases

Potential customers also read the news, and conflicts they may face are not necessarily full nation on nation war, but a whole range of military options

therefore, during this time, Pakistan and China should make the JF-17 the best fighter in its class relative to costs

a good example is the foreign sales of gripen started with the C/D models (Hungary, South Africa, and Thailand) while the Gripen NG; a further development; has been selected by Brazil

also JF-17 is going to be the backbone of the Pakistan Air Force, so for that reason alone Pakistan needs to develop it as much as possible

Its Merits need to speak for themselves when customers come ready looking to buy, the JF-17 needs to be fully developed before that point

lol thats gonna be a sigh of relief for the JFT producers :D
actually they seem to know this already and are not in panic due to this situation. Also PAF orders have priority, development of next block in underway. The post by Mastankhan however will be helpful for many posters that are troubled by no sales for JFT.

Actually it will address some issues the posters have of no JF 17 sales.

id be more than happy if PAF's requirements are met.
if we get some squadrons of Block 2 and later 3. we eventually will get an order from some country.
better focus on maturing the platform than keeping on the look for buyers.
PAF is a customer.

Just a note:-

When there was initial Egyptian interest in the JF-17 the UAE M2K-9 deal was still being negotiated as the UAE looked like it was going for the Rafale at the time (as was Egypt in 2011, it was blocked due to political instability). I think it's a bit too early to judge whether the EAF has lost interest or not.

Now with the Rafale deal, are M2K-9s or JF 17 out of question?

They still need something to replace their older airframes unless they downsize. 36 rafales are not the answer for some 86 obsolescent Mirage Vs and 150 F-7s. However, while the UAE mirages may take care of the older Mirage model replacemnt.. the 150 F-7s are another idea. I am surprised that HAL has not been so proactive in pushing the LCA in lieu of a maintenance share agreement on the Rafales; A very lucrative opportunity if not for the issue of the US engine on the LCA(cant a M-53 go in there?).

There is talk that the UAE gave assurance for the loans Egypt took, which might hint for M2K-9s in addition to the Rafales in the mid term. If true, it would take quiet some time till all these fighters would be inducted, which however should rule out JF 17 Block 2 in the mean time.
