Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

Russia has plenty of surplus singe engine fighters of the old era.

Its interesting because our own F-16's cannot be equipped with BVR missiles due to some weird agreement with USA.

AIM-120C5 which all PAF F-16s now carry, are BVR missiles.

Hi,

How old are you now????????
Probably he never seen outside his waterhole.

Like here in Europe there is so much peace and stability where you hardly need an advance jet. Just a few to tick the box. Rest big brothers have it all.

Or smaller countries like southamerica where u have small nation with limited resources. But hardly a need for super advance jet. Even Cuba is giving hand of friendship.

Or Africa where they need jets but no money. You take resources and give jet more like barter system.

Or east Asians who need jets but small economy.

Actually there is market for jf17 more than f16.

. .
so does KSA, UAE, Jordan, Oman, Yemen, Iraq and other GCC countries are interested in buying JF-17s from PAC???

. .
Don't be ridiculous kiddo.

Yes yes, huge market for JF-17, i've been reading about these buyers since 2009, how many planes have we sold so far? must be in hundreds.
Marketing is the issue and also the manufacturer are not much reliable, product is good.

Targets must be changed and don't look for rich Arab but Africans or south Americans.

Hi,

In order to make a major weapons sales---you need to have an extremely progressive sales force behind the project. But first you need to have a product that is designed for the market---Even though the PAF wanted to sell this aircraft---they had never done their homework right---they supposedly never asked the perspective buyers what they would want in the aircraft that they might want to purchase---.

PAF designed and built this aircraft to meet the needs of pak air force right from gitgo and keeping in mind the pak pilots.

Do you people know that n American cars----there maybe 6 to 8 cupholders---in a 7 passenger minivan---there maybe 10 to 16 cup holders---americans won't buy a car or van without cupholers---. OTOH---in Germany you cannot drink coffee etc while driving---so there are no cup holders----but then germans were forced to put in cup holders by the American market---they had to adapt or their car sales was on a downwards slide.

If JF 17 would have come out with a 2 seater right from day one---there would have been a long line on the waiting list.

one major problem with the current design is fuel capacity. If they actually came out with dual seater, the fuel capacity would decrease even further and the aircraft would gain weight, which it can't afford because of unavailability of a powerful engine.

I agree with the marketing statement. IMO, the two seater JFT and BVR integration was a MUST before Pakistan even started marketing. The first time the JFT would ever go to any event in the UK or Dubai, etc, it needed to have 2 SRAAM's along with 2 SD-10's on its pylon. Everyone would've gotten a clear and strong visual message of what they could buy for mere $ 20-25 million. Humans learn, agree and understand visual content more than audio or paper based message. You would be more inclined to invest your money into a home you can see, vs. buying stocks in an unknown company with a simple letterhead.

On the bold part about the German cars coming to the US with US preferences, it has nothing to do with how the German market was going. Anyone who wants to sell their products to the US, has to follow the ANSI guidelines (American National Standards Institutes), in electronics case, its ANSI and IEEE, similarly, every specific industry might have its own governing body in addition to ANSI.

H,

The reason for that post was to show that even the headstrong germans had to adapt to the U S market and make adjustments to sell their product.

London- The JF-17 thunder fighter aircraft, which has been the main attraction of visitors and potential buyers alike at the recently-concluded four-day defense exhibition, IDEAS 20114. It has attracted many buyers including Nigeria, as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is close to finalizing an order for the purchase of one or two squadrons of the JF-17 Thunder, British defence magazine reported on Friday.

IHS Jane’s Defense Weekly quoted Pakistan officials that the NAF finalized its recommendation for the purchase of 25-40 JF-17s after NAF chief air marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu, visited Pakistan in October. Amosu’s engagements in Pakistan included a visit to the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) at Kamra, north of Islamabad, where the JF-17 is manufactured.

The fighter aircraft has been co-produced by Pakistan and China. The Weekly said that so far, the PAC had produced 50 Block 1 JF-17s and began work on another 50 Block 2 variants in late 2013. Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officials told IHS Jane’s that a Block 3 variant is being planned.

Hopefully this is true.

The revenue earned from this deal should go towards making JF-17 more sophisticated and effective!
