Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

Well. The price of those we produce is between 15-20 Million Dollars. Export would be between 22-25 Million Dollars. Most likely.

^^ Many Nations are figuring out, working on the benefits/costs analysis.
Many factors need to be considered.

Pakistan played smart in promoting the Thunder in the Dubai Air Show 2011. In Zhuhai and Izmir the Arabs gained interest, and best way to make them fall for it is to go to their land and how them the might.

In my opinion, Pakistan must send its Thunders to S.Africa, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan and Kazakhistan.
It will boast the export potential.

thinking of exports before the block 2 has matured is not realistic.
once block 2 is well in performance exports will come, especially if chinese PLAAF also order 100 or more...

In my opinion from the Muslim world Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Oman, Yemen and May be Qatar & Bahrain(as it suits their doctorine) will going to buy them. I think all these mentioned Muslim countries and the rest must look towards it seriously.:pakistan:

Yes its possible that the export version will have BlockII capabilities cuz otherwise it won't be able to compete with the Western aircrafts....:smokin:

According to pshamim
Number of copies Egyptians are interested in is 92. Discussions are continuing between Pakistan, Egypt, and China.

The egyptian order is probably the most likely as it involves a co-production deal , so a few flyaway JF's with the rest made in egypt has benefits for everybody.
Question is, with the current political turmoil in egypt.. will this pull through.

JF-17 block 2 will probably compete with other planes for these orders...it wil be interesting.. competition always lead to better product

Mod Edit (to avoid derailing)

JF-17 has only been inducted in PAF...one cannot really judge the performance until it has been analysed by few other air forces as well...other countries have expressed interest like countries have been expressing in Rafale for decades.....Tejas has already got IOC....so in another couple of years it will be competing for orders as well...the roles of both aircrafts are similar...prices are similar..so expect competition...

It looks you didn't read the article published in Deccan Herald today, did you?

Here it is...
Tejas induction only by mid-2014
India’s ''pride,'' the light combat aircraft (LCA) Tejas, will only be inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) in mid-2014, as the aircraft, about which the IAF had expressed some dissatisfaction, is yet to get the second initial operational clearance (IOC-2).

Answering queries from the media after inaugurating a conference here, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal N A K Browne said the IOC-2 is expected only by mid-2012 and the final operational clearance could be scheduled only two years after that.

Pointing out that there are some delays in its development, he said: “The delay is caused by the active monsoon during which not many flights could be undertaken. But there are also some technical issues that have to be resolved as we go along.”

It is noteworthy that his predecessor Air Chief Marshal P V Naik was very vocal about the shortcomings of Tejas. He had, in fact, said the aircraft had not yet reached the category its promoters claimed it was on the day it received the IOC and that it had a long way to go before his men are able to fly it.

Further, Browne said the IAF was keen on inducting two more Israeli Phalcon AWACS (airborne warning and control systems) with the same configuration with electronic suite as it has already spent a lot of money on the integration.

“The proposal has just come to us from IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries). We will examine it and forward it to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for approval,” he said.

He also said the IAF hoped to conclude the contract for buying six more C-130J Super Hercules heavy-lift aircraft from Lockheed Martin by January. Stating that the trials have been completed for the 197 light helicopters that the armed forces want to buy, he said: “A trial report is being formulated now. Although the issue is being handled by the Army, we (IAF) would get 64 of those choppers.”

Comeon where is IOC? IOC 2(in fact IOC 1) is expected in mid 2012 and FOC two years later.. It means its not possible for Tejas to enter into production before mid 2014 (If it goes according to plan, which is least likely).. But you on the other hand are sure of its full flagged performance within couple of years!!

one cannot really judge the performance until it has been analysed by other air forces as well...other countries have expressed interest like countries have been expressing in Rafale for decades

It means Rafale competitors are better than Rafale, right? See, you are spot on, very damn thing cannot be ruled out when it comes to JFT and its competitors.

Why can't you compare them both are single engine fighters one is full of composites the other is metal

One has composite and is evolving day by day... with Top of the line stuff like AESA 1000 mod AESA,IFR,IRST,Stealthy features n more composites while the other is on a drawing board...

Sorry mods... i really wanted to reply to this bharti troll..lol

Pakistan & China’s JF-17 Fighter Program

The design itself is fairly conventional, resembling a somewhat boxy F-20, software coding was done in the commercial C++ language rather than a military language like Ada.

This is not in the least bit hitech

F-35 also uses C++ language... I guess its also not hitech.. right?genius!

Abt design.. before f-20... indians called it a mig-21...nothin new.

Dec 23/09: Myanmar (ex-Burma) reportedly buys 20 MiG-29s from Russia, preferring them over Chinese options that are said to have included the JF-17/ FC-1. Read “More MiG-29s for Myanmar.”

“A Russian aircraft industry source said the FC-1 is inferior to MiG-29 in performance, but sells for about $10 million, while the price of a MiG-29 is about $35 mln. MiG-29s are currently competing with FC-1s in an Egyptian tender on the delivery of 32 fighters. In addition, Egypt has launched negotiations with Pakistan on the licensed production of FC-1 aircraft. Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) approved the re-export of RD-93 engines to Egypt as part of the FC-1 fighter package in November 2007.”

Dear Moderators, can we please bring this debate back on topic, "Exports of JF-17". This is not an LCA versus whatever debate. It is sad to see all debates degenerate into these childish rants.

Now, getting back on topic. Does anyone have more details of the JDW article on the JF-17 becoming a multi-national program? I went to the JDW website, but you have to be a paid member to access the details.
