Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

Sir jee
What do you say?. Do you think it is true news?

Nigeria [emoji1184] buying 3 aircraft doesn't make sense does it. Their goal is to have 2 Squadrons minimum. The obstacles were a training aircraft which they have in the shape of JF17B and their financial position which remains questionable. I believe that this will be a slow process but chances are quite good [emoji106].

Also look towards Tajikistan [emoji1240] whose president has signed MoUs for defence cooperation with Pakistan [emoji1191]. Things are moving forward albeit at a slow pace but that is expected.

Why did the Nigerian government purchase Mushshak trainers? Obviously to increase their training capability and capacity of their air force.

The #Nigeria|n AF recently took delivery of 3 #Pakistan|i made JF-17s. Paraphrasing @Justin_Br0nk: it was ease of maintenance, composite airframe, a proven Russian engine & digital avionics that made the JF-17 the ideal platform for the budget conscious NAF. More orders expected. https://t.co/vvl6B5ORpn

Romanian ambassador visited ACM and they have aircraft that need replacing i.e Mig21s.

Any chance for JF17 export?

It's worth noting that they're likely taking the JF-17 seriously because, well, they have no other choice.

Sure they can probably get offers from Dassault, but China's probably more willing to play ball on a flexible loan or financing package. In this vein, Argentina has very similar issues to Pakistan.

China is probably looking to gain some concession over land or resources. That is a very very tricky slope. The govt relies heavily on land owners for much needed exports especially beef.

Issue with Argentina is they have lived for decades beyond their means and perpetual debt; there are bonds in circulation that are over 60yrs old and paying 15%+; that is the haircut they have been trying to shed.

Let us see but this may just land up to be a window shopping exercise.
They couldn’t afford the interest on the Rafale at their current stage - the Indians are privately smarting at the fleecing they are enduring for it.

The Kfir is a good jet but maxed at its capacity now so its a hobson’s choice for them but they do like the idea of being able to put their FMA infrastructure that is generally rotting away to good use.

my former colleagues at IAI noted the following; Argentine come with a huge set of requirements but expect everything to be added for free. There are two camps in their forces - one is strictly on western equipment e.g. non chinese; the other is open to options. The later wants 2nd option still to have non western plane but with western equipment. It is an impass which we can only conjecture to.

Argentina looking for western equipment are suicide and compromise national security. Almost all western nations will side with UK ,even France.

Unless Argentina drop claim on Falkland. Getting western equipment while having the pipedream of reclaim falkland back is not possible.

Please remember Maggie Thatcher had threatened to Nuke Argentina if the French did not give them the source codes for the Exocets. Knowing her she would have done it as well.So in fairness( not thatcI have any tolerance of the French bigotry) in this case they did the Argentinians a Favour.

Yes, I read that but it is a completely empty threat.

1) The UK isn't going to nuke a developing country like Argentina. Simply ridiculous.

2) The UK knows any attack on the Argentinian mainland would (by treaty) trigger the US and most of the countries in the Americas to jointly declare war on the UK. Thatcher knew this and was forced to keep all military action away from the mainland. Any f-up would be a disaster.

3) As if France really cares about Argentina? More likely afterwards Thatcher threatened Mitterand's own ships with being sunk for every one the UK lost to an Exocet.

4) I don't even think it has been proven that there even was such a thing as kill codes.

The French President obviously did not agree with your point of view. Maggie Thatcher was not called the Iron lady for nothing. So ridiculour or not she threatened to Nuke Argentina and the French relented.
