I was watching the Dubai Airshow, It's on live right now, and my mother was also sitting here.
She asked me "Are there any Pakistani Aircrafts?" And just then the Mushak comes on.
Then she goes "where is the F- Satra?"
Shocked, I replied, they couldn't make it because of some insurance issues.
She replies "Kissi kaam kay nahi hoe! Tum nay apnay boss say baat q nahi kiya?"
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I have a feeling she is a silent member of PDF. :p:

Hi,

This reminds me of my teen years---I used to give and eye to this girl---and amazingly ( to me at least ) at that time---my grandmother knew about it and commented on it----:omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

Helps get you some much needed $$ and helps the industry to grow in a new dynamic...moreover further economies of scale helps bring prices down by few notches(i guess)..

Question why is this article suggesting that buyer is unnamed/secret??

As per PAC official, identity of customer has been withheld on customer's request. PAC will not announce it and news will be broken by customer country herself.

only if you can comprehend the difference between "First ever deal" and "First deal at Dubai", next year it could be "first deal in Farnborough"

I think i remember first deal news last year. This year also we have first deal.
And i have no doubt we would have a first deal signed next year as well.
Now that is some record.

Please someone educate me how much time a deal for new fighter jet would take to mature? Why these potential buyers (the ones who can only afford and need JF-17) are not convinced yet by JF-17 and its performance? I mean if we have already tested (in ops) these birds there must be some results that we may be sharing with outside parties to convince them? Does politics play any role in these deals?

there is some confusion surrounding orders for JFT/FC1.

it was PAC which announced the 1st order for JF-17/FC1 at Paris air show and the customer was speculated to be Myanmar.
it was AVIC which announced or confirmed the 1st order for JF-17/FC1 at Dubai air show and stated that the customer remains unnamed.
IMO JF-17/FC1 have secured only one order so far.

My view is that there maybe issues on credit. Check the Sri Lankan disclosure - it was around a loan to allow the purchase. Now with mostly poorer countries being the target market, and Pakistan herself not particularly wealthy and the Chinese (in my view) more interested in selling fighters they can keep most of the profits, the fc-1 is disadvantaged.

Also the 2-seater issue. I think the availability of AESA is another point . Check that even the L-15 seems to have an EASA and so does the T-50, Kfir and Gripen.

I still think they should have roped in a Saudi financer but even that constricts the process. However many deals will a 3rd party finance. Assuming $500m per 12 planes, you are going to struggle to have 2 or 3 deals financed with repayments over 5-10 years

Hi,

I read your post again and your mom's comment cracked me up----" Kisi kaam kay nahin hoe "

So I was talking to my mother a few days ago and talking about a family member---he has some issues---and I asked my mother to let me know---and she says " tusi bachay o---tuhaday agay tay mein einvain ee gal nahin kardi "----.

I said nothing to her but started laughing----damn almost 59----and got put in my place real quick---.

Sir how about hiring foreign qualified marketing guys, who are specialist in selling stuff from needle to anything and can convince buyers? I am serious, bear with my ignorance of defense matters but don't you think they should have some civilian people who have experience and qualification in selling stuff and lobbying?

Hi,

That will work much better, PAF must not get involved in sales----. It will be bad for the service.

These news are very ambiguous. Is this a second customer or a rehash of the earlier news. I think that we do have a second customer and there have been hintsof the poss8ble buyer but no confirmationas yet. However things are beginning to look good for our little gem.
