India can't survive on importing weapons... All your strongest weapons are imported
for airforce u can say that but for navy thats not the case at all
almost all of our new n major ships whether they r destroyers, frigates, corvettes, nuclear subs even the new aircraft carrier r made in india:azn:
n even for our imported major weapons like scorpion subs r under tot n r being manufactured in india so we do have all the technical know how for their maintenance n repairs even during war times:angel:

rather u should worry more about ur own manufacturing capacities as we r yet to see a corvette from pakistan:blah:

PN is expanding not to "counter" but to "deter" Indian navy as IN is too powerful for Pakistan Navy to counter. PN's primary goal is to develop the ability of "Area denial" ie deterring IN from blockading Karachi , Port Qasim , Gwadar etc by employing capabilities to carry out this task with effectiveness.

You have.

F-22P - 4 more may come
OHP
Augosta 90B
Qing Class Subs {11 subs in total}
Type-54A Frigates coming
P3-C Orion HAWKEYE
SAAB Eriye
ZDK-Karakoram Eagle

And other air based assets like , Z-9EC ASW - Mirage V armed with C-802
Plus , land based mid range coastal defense systems.

Pakistan Navy have purchased Chinese C602 long range anti-ship cruise missiles ~ ASIAN DEFENCE

PNs task is not to match IN bullet to bullet but to maintain its Area denial capability and develop strategic balance with the induction of an upcoming nuclear sub.

C-802

i agree with ur post but as far as c-602 is concerned pakistan has 280km range version with speed of 0.6 mach which won't be enough for brahmos

n ur Mirage V may be armed with C-802 but don't forget they will be pitted against Mig 29Ks n once nirbhay comes into action this won't be enough to defend u:wave:

Please understand that the IN is not just to counter the PN and dominate the Arabian Sea. The Indian Navy's strategy is to establish a blue water navy for force projection across the Asia Pacific region and protection of sea lanes extending to the South China Sea.

Pakistan's Naval strategy is defensive in nature, based on deterrence of Indian Naval Forces in the Arabian Sea to prevent naval blockades to their vital supply lines from the Middle East and safeguarding Pakistan's sea frontiers and monitoring and protecting her exclusive economic zone. It is a medium size capable navy with no offensive designs or intent and it does not aim at sea access denial to India.

'Keeping up with the Jonses', in this case with India, is going to be no easy task for Pakistan due to the current economic situation prevailing there. So, till such time the PN builds its naval forces with a massive induction of funds to match India's naval strength, its doctrine will continue to be defensive in nature.

Pakistan Navy has received ample upgrades

3 Agosta Submarines and 4 F22P have increased our capacity by 50% major boost
Not to mention 10 P3C orions have boosted our capacity by 50% as well
1 Alamgir OHP frigate has also boosted our anti submarine capabilities

As we also know that Pakistan is negotiating for 6 Submarines with China that will be a considerable upgrade almost 300%
and Pakistan has already indicated that they will construct a Nuclear Submarine of their own

20 Odd Mirages , and Anti Ship strategy for Pakistan Navy makes it a formidable foe because majority of weapons we have are tactical game changers

Future outlook
6 Submarines from China , nuclear enhancement done in Pakistan with 7th or all 6
4 More F22P frigates
J17 Navy & J11

.
Please do not compare IN and PN , there is no comparison between the two ... its like comparing IN and Russian navy ....

The headline should have more been like "expansion plans of Pakistan Navy"

Should have left out the comparison or countering part alone !!!

i agree that PN too upgrading itself to deter IN but u have to understand that IN is already way ahead of we'll be inducting something around 100 ships in 10 years let alone our current arsenal

i F-22P is just a 2500 tonnes ship even the Kamotra class ''Corvette'' india is making has a displacement of 3000 tonnes so just by naming them Frigates ain't gonna make them frigates

hope u got my point:wave:

Every nation has their own set of rules between corvette and frigate... By NATO's guidelines, a corvette is a ship that has a displacement under 1,500 tonnes. I guess PN follows NATO guidelines.

Orionhunter, the disparity in the navies of india and pakistan has not only to do with economy, if that was the case PLAN would have been miles ahead of IN. there is also something called "sea faring tradition"

As James Holmes put it

My guess is that the Indian Navy commands a significant advantage over the PLA Navy in the domains of airmanship and seamanship.

Indian mariners are steeped in a naval-aviation culture that the Chinese are only starting to instill.

Please come out of your fantasies...

indian Coastal Line is WAYYYYYY bigger than Pakistan's ...hence you see the disparity.... Nothing more , nothing less.

Pakistan can not have a large navy for 600 miles of Coast Line ......

Regarding your "sea faring" fairy tale ...

Pakistani Sailors = indian Sailors if not Pakistani Sailors > indian Sailors....

On a lighter note , he was referring to "Sea Faring" and not "Sea Fearing"

By the way i do agree with your point Pak has navy in proportion to its 600 km of its cosstline , hence the topic should not be about comparison with much much stronger IN and just focus on expansion of PN .

.
I agree IN is much stronger than PN, but PN doesn't have much of a budget and a small coastline, while India has totake up the duty of patrolling whole Indian Ocean because US economy is bad and they cant afford anymore having a blue water navy.. maybe in 50 years IN will be the best navy on earth

....

Pakistan's 1040 km coastline with 3 ports eg : Karachi, pasni & gwadar is more then enough for it to have a green water navy countries with a much smaller coast lines had very powerful navies eg: Netherlands , so coastline size is not a problem the problem is lack of will & foresight had we concentrated on industrialization & establishing a vibrant shipbuilding capacity we would not have been in this position

I know..I wrote sea faring....read my post again...

Pakistan has more naval force , per coastal mile , deployed at Sea than India ... :pop: Remember , Indian Coast is almost 8X longer than Pakistan's Coastal Lines...

Also : some bharti fangirl started this comparison crap...we didn't.

oh dear. not that 1 pakistni soldier = 10 indian soldiers crap. it was funny enough the 1st 100 times

Stop thinking with ur pea sized fanboy brain for a sec

Regarding your "sea faring" "fairy tale":

the Romans brought the warship building expertise to south india before christ was born, which they used to fight the europeans in the colonial age. some south indian kingdoms, like marathas and kerala's navy defeated the europeans in some occasions.

next time, please dont be biased against india to the point of mental retardation
