This exercise was of a very huge scale. Not like the Cope series already conducted by IAF and the USAF. This exercises were actually done to evaluate Large Deployments and what are the training procedures learnt by the IAF during the Red Flag 2008 which we attended. The RAF brought in much valued experience and they also brought in the Eurofighter as in to train with most of the Russian/Soviet origin aircraft and to evaluate it against them.
The Buzzword in the later part of the exercises was interoperability. Thats why there were elaborate meetings on the Oct. of 18 and 19. The Eurofighter stood its ground against the Su series of aircrafts. And above all the time taken between launch of 2 Su series aircrafts at a time was 15 seconds as we didnt need to have any qualms about FOD to the engine.
This was a roaring success as we had two AWACS supporting both the forces. The RAF left with rich knowledge of how the Russian/Soviet origin aircrafts perform in all the roles and we ended up absorbing many of the operating procedures of the RAF which has been training for a long-long time with NATO forces.
All together it was a great success and seems like RAF also wants to bring in other countries to practice in the next edition of EX-Indradanush.
