I've seen a bunch of TRT videos on YT. They've mostly been about promoting the Turkish state agenda. Sure enough, the wiki page for TRT says that it is the state international news broadcaster for Turkey. It is bound to promote Turkish interest at the expense of all others. As the president of Turkey does not seem to have good will towards KSA, it is only natural that his mouth piece would want to make KSA look like a villain.

The Turkish version of the story in this case is downright disrespect for Pakistan's state by KSA. This is very odd and unlikely. Hence take TRT with a pinch of salt

Very trivial answer. Like I said, grow some brain cells and revisit my answer.

Your answer would understandable to a degree if Turkey and TRT weren't literally calling out everything that is wrong and proven right each time. Be it Khashoggi murder which went from saudi denying it to blaming rogue agents to saying ok rogue political elements to mbs saying he will take responsibility. Or be it revealing nato and us pressure tactics. Or be it being forefront in raising Kashmir issue in international media.

Simpler words; they have never, ever tried to compromise Pakistan ties with anyone. They have called spade a spade, and have only proven to not only be extremely reliable but also highly supportive of pakistan while rest of the world abandoned.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Pakistan decided to stay away from the recently concluded Kuala Lumpur summit because of Saudi Arabia's threats of economic sanctions, Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah reported on Friday.

The meeting was shunned by Saudi Arabia and criticised for allegedly undermining the bigger Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Some analysts also suspected that Saudi Arabia's reluctance to attend stemmed from fear of being diplomatically isolated by regional rivals Iran, Qatar and Turkey, all of whom were attending the summit.

Saudi state news agency SPA also reported that on a call with Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohammad, Saudi King Salman reaffirmed that such issues should be discussed through the OIC.

According to Daily Sabah, Erdogan, while speaking to Turkish media representatives, said that it was not the first time that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had put pressure on a country for doing or not doing certain things.

“Unfortunately, we see that Saudi Arabia pressures Pakistan. Now, there are promises that the country has given to Pakistan regarding the central bank. However, more than that, there are four million Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia. They [threaten by saying that they] would send [Pakistanis] back and re-employ Bangladeshis instead,” Erdogan was quoted as saying. He added that the kingdom has also threatened to withdraw money it had deposited in the State Bank of Pakistan.

According to Erdogan, Pakistan had to comply with the Saudi wishes "due to its economic difficulties".

The Foreign Office has yet to comment on Erdogan's statement.

'No representation from Pakistan at summit'
Pakistan was one of the first countries with which Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir had shared his plans for holding the summit when he met Prime Minister Imran along with Erdogan on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session in New York in September.

Later, Imran Khan formally conveyed his acceptance of the invitation for attending the summit when Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia Marzuki Bin Haji Yahya called on him in Islamabad on November 29.

Last week, however, reports of Prime Minister Imran cancelling his trip to Malaysia started making rounds. After his visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday, the premier decided to stay away from the Kuala Lumpur summit. According to reports, he withdrew due to pressure exerted by the kingdom, which had extended a helping hand to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government during its early days to stave off an economic crisis.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had on Tuesday confirmed that there would be no representation from Pakistan at the summit of some 20 Muslim countries, which started in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Qureshi confirmed that Saudi Arabia and the UAE had concerns about the summit, saying the two countries were worried that the event could cause “division in Ummah” and lead to setting up of an organisation parallel to the existing Saudi-dominated OIC.

In view of the reservations about the summit, Qureshi said, it was decided that Pakistan would seek to bridge the gap between Riyadh and Kuala Lumpur and if that did not work there would be no participation in the summit.

Prime Minister Imran’s trip to the kingdom was aimed at bringing Saudi Arabia and Malaysia closer and not for getting permission to attend the summit, the minister said at the time.

Actually a lot of blue collar migrant workers (mostly Bangladeshi, Indonesian, but there are several thousand Pakistanis also) end up in Malaysia either after being cheated by deceitful agents or by their own will thinking they would get lot of money, and then they get detained and deported (if they can pay for their own return ticket) by the law enforcement over there because they don't have proper documentation or rights over there, not very different from the things you hear about labors in the middle east

Pakistan need 30 years of economic plan to be economically independent.

The reason I say this is because once you are out of the initiative destroying, negative, opportunity drained swamp that is the Pakistani culture to business and work, you learn to stand on your own feet.

If you can drive a taxi in Riyadh you can drive one in Lahore. You won't be able to build a koti, and the half a dozen freeloading adults looking at you to earn for them will have to starve or work, but you won't go hungry. Your extended family won't be able to host weddings like nawabs, but they'll still afford nikkah fees and walima for 10-20 people.

This is the sacrifice we should and could make. Unfortunately our leaders are interested in re-election. Musharaf did nro due to his saviour complex, today I see IK suffering from the same complex.

No. Don't blame anybody in Pakistan. Not even Nawaz, Zardari etc. Saudi's literally threatened to pull all financial support and replace our labour with Banglas. It would have led to economic massacre of Pakistan. No government could handle that. There simply was no choice.

Therein lies the real issue. If PMIK had said "fcuk you" to Saudi's and headed out to take part in the summit. You would think the country and public would hail PMIK as hero, right? You would think they would 'eat grass' and work hard. Suffer and begin paying taxes for better future. And like a hero deserves vote overwlemingly for PMIK in 3 1/2 years time when election takes place. Then come out in millions to show support?

Nope. Non of that would happen. Instead as economy would nosedive they would start causing chaos and protests on the streets. Smelling blood Mullah Diesel and other vultures like PPP and PML would join in. Soon the country would be on it';s knees and PMIK would be asked to resign. Go Khan Go would reverbrate along the length of country.

Soon enough you would either have toothy Zardari being sworn in as new PM as declaring "democracy best revenge" or one of the Nawaz's in power again. This is sad reality of our stupid awam.

I did not mean to say that TRT would be wrong and unreliable about everything. But it is reasonable to expect them to report the Turkish state narrative only. In most cases, Turkey and Pakistan have aligned interests - so I can see where your appreciation for TRT comes from. This however does not make TRT ethically supreme. If Erdogan wants Pakistani public to develop a distaste for KSA, he can make statements like these; statements that TRT would then use to proselytize its audience without any attempt to be impartial in the matter.

Play the devil's advocate for a minute and think about this - would it be good diplomacy for KSA to dictate actions to Pakistan with threats? Would it simply not be likely that KSA would have made a request to Pakistan to not partake in the new alliance in exchange for monetary favors?

He did the right thing for two reasons -

• to expose Saudia for what it is. A American/Israeli outpost in the desert.
• to inform and excuse the reason Pakistan did not take part. In doing so he is saying he understands and appreciates why Pakistan did this and holds no grudge. Mahatir did the same. Both know that PMIK had no choice. Had Erdigan or Mahatir been in PMIK's shoes they would have done exactly the same.
  
• Both Erdogan and Mahatir can pursue independent foreign policy because both have robust economies and do not depend on Saudia Arabia.
  
• Pakistan literally was exposition of that saying "he who pays the piper gets to call the tune". Since Saudia pays Pakistan. It gets to call the Pakistani tune.

Yes. Pakistan needs to realise that Saudi Arabia is no friend. Indeed I consider her to be a sister to Imposter Israel and an occupier of the Hijaz.

Bangladesh nither has any outstanding issue nor any ambitions in regional politics. They can afford "let us be" attitude and hence comfortable with everybody.

On the other hand Pakistan, for example, has issues like Kashmir, Afghanistan, etc and they are also ambitious about their role at least on the Muslim ummah front.

If SA threatens us with such extreme steps, can we not threaten them with an alliance with Iran and also by withdrawing our Nuclear Umbrella, removal of our Military forces from SA and by threatening Saudi Arabia with military assistance in training and intel to Iran, Turkey etc.??

It sounds great on the paper but what can Iran offer to Pakistan? Turkey can offer technology and technical assistance but won’t allow unskilled workers from Pakistan to work in Turkey.
