Erdogan moots restoring death penalty in Turkey

Sometimes, death penalty is better than life sentence.

For example, for a serial killer psycho or a drug lord, why should government spend money on them until they die naturally after many years? What's the benefit?

All this 'capital punishment is inhuman' nonsense are started by Europeans, the same ones who have their history full of all kinds of executions. Now,they want to dictate the world what's true or not.
I think Turkey can hold a referendum for it.

america is the leading nations is executions, in texas the execution with lethal injection is done, and if you watch the documentaries, you will see that the jail isnt the best place for rehab, the criminals become stronger in prisons and form gangs, become more dangerous and even do crimes while in detention.. they become psychopaths

and as you said why waste money on criminals, they are scums, do immediate justice and no prison is required for it

I agree with the all points you made. But knowing that a scum like Anders Breivik will walk after serving 20 years of jail time in a 5 star hotellish prison is still bothering me...

It's bothers me too. Men like Anders Breivik, Stalin and Saddam deserve nothing but the death, but I still believe a life sentence could replace it.

- restoring death penalty in Turkey does not alter the legal situation of apo.

- we have repentance law (pişmanlık yasası) for the pkk members.

-conclusion: ...... guess it is obvious

Nice too see Turks going Backwards... I bid the persians and Greeks farewell in dealing with the new Arabized Burden near their borders

Death penalties are for uncivilized countries, also death penalties are once they have been executed not reversible. The USA alone shows us how many times people that have been not guilty have been executed.
Death penalty changes nothing. U can be a developed country with death penalty (US, Japan) and undeveloped without (Honduras, Burundi). And vice versa.

Thats why discussing that non issue (death penalty) means distracting people from real problems.

Yaaa, at least I can not say it is wrong. Although one should not forget the "Frequency of an event" in a comparison procedure and the fact that to how extent the Judiciary system is healthy. I mean one could be sentenced to death for the crime he has never committed!

It could be uncivilized to to have death penalty, but it is retarded to spend my tax money on criminals for 25-30 years. We could use this money to improve education, and improve the poor's life style. That will help decrease homicide rates.

We should certainly bring it back, and if I was PM first person to hang would be terrorists and then Erdoğan and his secretary Bülent Arınç.

I think the next discussion would be bringing back amputation and stoning ? Right Mr Erdogan?

Death penalty serves no purpose.
Saddam could have been kept alive as an example of bad leader.
Hanging him turned him from a corrupt self serving dictator to a war hero!

Videos all over youtube with "qasida saddam shaheed"

serves no purpose ? you joking , we are feeding terrorists and wasting money on them while we could just hang them . Death penalty is very important but erdogan said it on purpose hes a very clever guy , he says that in areas like trabzon which is all nationalists , when he goes to other places he changes , he can turn 360 degrees in two days.
