Some people seem to have collective amnesia this shortly after the giant Syrian fiasco. Libyans are never going to accept foreign interference or their resources being stolen regardless of who does it. It is a waste of time.
Egypt is the strongest player in Libya and always was that throughout almost all of recorded history. Egyptians, especially Western Egyptians, have the closest ties to half of Libyas population. Al-Sarraj has no future in Libya, Libyans will never accept his rule. Nor will every Libyan accept Haftar, which is why both options are temporarily only.
This is much bigger than those 2 warring parties who are engaged in the same behavior. It is about Libya not turning into a foreign brothel and for Libyan resources not to be taken advantage up by foreigners. Arab matters should be solved by Arabs and Arab resources should stay in Arab hands, preferably natives/locals. Syria is the best example of this. Libyans are waking up and know what is going on.

No Egypt didn't have Soviet backing Egypt kicked all Soviet personal from Egypt before the war due to the Soviet refusel to supply weapons that match israel. The American support to Israel was replacing all the distroyed equipment with advanced ones
Egypt needs to act. It is the only player who can change the cause of Libya profoundly and influence it long-term. Neighboring Arab states should not be waiting if unstable neighboring Arab countries are taken advantage of by foreigners. If we had not acted in Yemen, Yemen would be another Libya and half of the world would have been stealing Yemeni resources.
Similarly with neighboring Egypt itself, imagine if KSA had not acted, Egypt could have turned into a foreign satellite state undermining the Arab world through proxies (MB) controlled/influenced by foreigners. Similarly Iraq in the past and recently.
Is there a political will from the Egyptian side to do what is needed here?
