Erdogan builds Presidential Palace in Ankara

Erdoğan has come under fire for the construction of a new palace called Ak Saray (white palace), which occupies approximately 50 acres of Atatürk Forest Farm (AOÇ) in Ankara. Since the AOÇ is protected land, several court orders were issued to halt the construction of the new palace, though building work went on nonetheless. The opposition described the move as a clear disregard for the rule of law. Allegations of corruption during the construction process, the wildlife destruction and the complete obliteration of the zoo in the AOÇ in order to make way for the new compound were also subject to heavy criticism. The fact that the palace is technically illegal has led to it being branded as the 'Kaç-Ak Saray', with the word kaçak in Turkish meaning 'illegal'.

Yeah its 30 times bigger than the White House. $615 million was spent on that bloody construction. And, that's not his money. That money could have been spent on research or something useful. We could have sent satellites to Moon and Mars. Another thing which bothers me is that no construction was allowed in that area but Erdoğan still did it anyway. He thinks he is above the law.

I presented myself in the introduction thread. Sorry I didn't know I was suppose to do it in the Cay Bachesi thread as well. I didn't mean to give you bad vibes. I was just very upset with this news (i know its not recent) and wanted to express myself. I wasn't aware this was already discussed as I'm new here.
