So much Commotion over why east India company was set up in Bengal.... The arguement here is inexistent.



I want to set up and empire, I have superior forces, I have technology 100 years ahead of the Natives... I will certainly pick the spot that suits me.... I've seen plenty of Pakistanis (in the US) that fit that bill too. (sans the hanging out with Indians)

The reality is that sort of person is independent of their ethnicity and more to do with their worldview.

Also, this recent bonhamie between Turkey and Bangladesh is apparently based on brotherhood but also has very tangible worldly advantages.

No.

Nothing wrong with anyone hanging out with anyone.

In the US, this Indo/Pak crap is not really that important as far I can tell. (Both from school and now work environoments)

But for Bengalis/Bangladeshis or whatever you wanna call it.

There are two distinct strains.

One more religiously oriented and the other more secular.

The former seems to identify with Islamic identity and tries to stay away from the drink and pork, but more often than not succumbs to the women. (Pakistani oriented)

The later freely drinks and eats and chills and doesn't really care who he or she hangs out with. (Indian oriented)

I have a HUGE family here and have members in all parts of that spectrum.

This post is of course really simplistic and has nothing to do with this thread.

Also, these generalizations apply to all from South Asia not just Bengalis.
