Pakistan and England stars brawl over Sun match-fix story | The Sun |News

The pair grabbed each other by the throat and hurled four-letter abuse after batsman Trott taunted fast bowler Riaz as the two teams warmed up for the fourth one-day international.

Trott yelled: "How much money are you going to make from the bookies?"

Tensions between the sides were at breaking point after a Sun probe revealed bookies apparently knew details of Pakistan's innings in Friday's one-day match BEFORE a ball had been bowled.
Trott and Riaz, one of five Pakistani players quizzed by police following a summer marred by match-fixing allegations, had to be dragged apart by ex-England skipper Graham Gooch.

Witnesses said Riaz made an offensive comment about a member of Trott's family. Cricket equipment was hurled as the pair lunged at each other.

Stunned cricket fan Will Gubbins said: "Gooch stepped in to calm things down and urged Riaz to back off.

"The rest of the Pakistanis came to support Riaz and there was a lot of swearing. Trott was clearly upset, shaking his head and muttering expletives."

The Sun told on Saturday how illegal bookies in Dubai and India appeared to know in advance what would happen in Friday's Oval match. The International Cricket Council later said it would investigate our dossier detailing two suspicious overs and unusual scoring patterns during the Pakistan win.
But within hours, Pakistan cricket chief Ijaz Butt made the extraordinary allegations that ENGLAND players had been bribed to throw the match.

His claims were widely interpreted as a crude attempt to divert attention from the scandal.

But England skipper Andrew Strauss was clearly incensed yesterday as he issued a statement minutes before the punch up.

He said: "We would like to express our surprise, dismay and outrage at the comments made by Mr Butt." He warned the players could take legal action.

Wriggling Butt has since insisted he was not making the claims himself but repeating bookies' gossip. Pakistan won yesterday's match by 38 runs.

Pakistan's tour of England has been dogged by corruption claims. Captain Salman Butt and bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were called home after claims no balls were deliberately bowled. Wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and Riaz have been questioned by police.

Jonathan trott should be taken to court for his languages used against pakistan as butt too for sure
