Egypt re-opening talk with Pakistan to purchase the JF-17 ?

One of the biggest hurdles in JF-17 export is that the only production line is in Pakistan and that too is working at full capacity to meet local needs.

The way the Thunder is being pitched to KSA and their eagerness to boast local aviation production, would be really wise to include KSA in the project and open up a second production (via kits) and maintenance line there. This will ensure quicker delivery and make it even more tempting for other arab countries.

Egypt already bought 24 Mig-29s through Saudi funds but they have ~150-200 F-7s, Mig-21s and Mirages to replace, my guess is Jordan could be the first export customer.

China can produce any one of FC1/JF17 as much they want to, so production line cannot be hurdle for export.
Actual problem is engine cause russia wont allow China to sell FC1 to any of their potential customer.

Engine availability has never been an issue, it was a political speculation. Just wishful thinking of people from your side of the border by keep bringing it up again. If it were the case Pakistan wouldn't have gotten any RD-93s at all. Infact the Russians are fully co-operating with a better RD-93MA so that the switch to the WS-13 isnt made and it remains a low priority project for China.

China doesnt have a JF-17 production line, they only make parts for the JF-17 and that too till PAC Kamra can get TOT to make everything them self. Chengdu aviation has converted all its facilities for J-10 production and any JF-17 order is unlikely to change that.

Pakistan was never a potential buyer for any Russian jet so they dnt have problem to sell RD 93 to you. But for other countries they will not allow. And as I said all development of FC1/JF17 completed within China, they produce all prototype as well so why will they loose their own business and money to you?

.
Their Mig 21s/J-7s will be replaced by Mig-29/35s and Mirage-iii with UAE's Mirage-2k-9s. Forget Egypt. I think Sisi is pissed at us for inviting Morsi.

So it is better this rumour mill gets shut out once and for all.

Because of a contractual obligation that comes with the Joint Venture. Please stop beating around a hollow bush when there are clear public interviews available that state the nature of the contract with China and Pakistan's contribution. If you do not wish to believe those then do not waste our bandwidth with your bias.

Sir I don't think Egypt will miss the opportunity of getting these jets with TOT and Chinese Missiles. Sir they need to replace J-7 and few others and JF-17 is best option for them 4th Generation BVR capable along with Anti Ship and Cruise Missile for Egypt it can't get better than that Sir.

Egypt miss look at the opportunity and wave bye bye at it if it has a better option.

Sir it doesn't have with this price and TOT they don't have any other option other planes they maximum may be able to buy 40 but this with TOT comes massive experience as well as many as you want. Saudi would also find it easy to fund this than other projects.

Egypt is buying which Mig29?

Russian Air Force still has 12 Mig29SMT in order.

They should try getting R77M certification

All JF-17 prototypes were made in China and still for new structural changes they are handling the R&D and testing. But they never opened a local JF-17 production line. They are not losing money as they still supply parts/machinery and in any possible sales PAC and Chengdu will share revenues. Its a joint project, China did the prototyping and still does the R&D whereas PAC got transfer of tech and doing the production and software coding.

Serial production is only at PAC Kamra. Initially they were built from complete kits but now slowly as TOTs coming in greater number of systems being made in Pakistan, but even if all systems made in Pakistan, China will still be supplying the components to build them so they are not losing.

I'd wait out to see the developments. But it is likely to be Egypt, since one of the AFs goals is to domestically produce or assemble a fighter aircraft.

Only if the Mig-29 deal also goes through. That would give that commonality sweetner that might make the deal more fruitful for both Egypt and Russia.

Egypt re-opening talk with Pakistan to purchase the JF-17 ?

China-Pakistan fighter jet nears first foreign deal

An "unidentified" Middle Eastern country is in “advanced” talks to make the first foreign purchase of a fighter jet jointly developed by Pakistan and China.

The joint sales team from the Pakistan Air Force and China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation also known as CATIC, are in advanced talks with 10 other countries to sell the JF-17 Thunder, said PAF Air Commodore Khalid Mahmood, who heads sales and marketing for the fighter jet.

“We are in advanced negotiations with a Middle Eastern country, but the political situation over there has delayed the deal,” said Mahmood in an interview at the Zhuhai Air Show yesterday, declining to give more details. “But we still expect them to be our first foreign client.”

The JF-17 Thunder fighter jet is among several aircraft China is seeking to export, after designating its domestic aerospace sector as a key national strategic industry. The twin-engine jet was jointly designed and manufactured by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and Chengdu Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of state-owned Aviation Industry Corp of China, also known as AVIC.

The partners are in “advanced talks” with clients in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America for jet sales, Mahmood said. He declined to identify any of them. Prospective orders will be for the third block of 50 planes, with the Pakistan Air Force having ordered the first two blocks of 50.
