(Reuters) - A man was shot dead on Monday in a fifth day of violence in Egypt that has killed 50 people and prompted the Islamist president to declare a state of emergency in an attempt to end a wave of unrest sweeping the Arab world's biggest nation.
Emergency rule announced by President Mohamed Mursi on Sunday covers the cities of Port Said, Ismailia and Suez.

The right that the Egyptians fought for was taken by the moslem brotherhood who were waitingin the sideline for the fruit to ripen. With the help of the Americain and with the OK of Israel they become the main force in Egypt. The sad thing, is the army, no wanting to loose its grip on the egyptian economy, joined them.
The same happened in the 80's in Algeria where the FIS used the same stratagem to harvest the gains obtained by the Algerian youth rebellion, to seize all the political apparatus in Algeria. We went thru hell to get rid of them. I am afraid that a dark cloud is cast over Egypt..

Muslim Brotherhood is the most organized political entity in Egypt now with decades of social work in their bag of goodies to gain grass roots public support. It is no surprise they took power when democracy came.

The opposition groups need to fight this with ballot box. They can protest peacefully, but they cannot remove a democratically elected govt., regardless of their affiliations to Moon, Mars, Sun or Islam.

Democratic evolution is a process, sometimes it is smooth, other times not, this is one such time.

Algeria's first democratic stirrings failed, but make no mistake, with or without Islamists, the next one will come. Dictatorship and Authoritarian govt. is never good for the people and it will not be accepted by the people in the long term. A self appointed dictator govt. do not speak for or represent the people they rule over, they are, in one world, illegitimate.

Apparently, YES. The only thing Egyptians can do now is to pray that he won't get a second term, although I have a feeling that he came to stay. It's so dangerous to use religion or race to get in power, and history is filled with such leaders and what they did to their people and countries. I hope I am wrong though.

Morsi is the democratically elected president of egypt so far the muslim brotherhood have won every election and that gives them a democratic mandate to rule

This is just rubbish from the oppositiin fail to win electiins and then cause chos because they cant win through votes

In the future if the secular types win a election why should muslims or the muslim brotherhood accept their rules, policies or dictats why not just cause chos and riot and stop.the goverment from doing its job

this is what the west and Israel want, Egypt economy is destroyed, Libya is also destroyed, same with Yemen and the war in Syria... This "Arab Spring" is not for Arabs but rather its for the west..

We are fighting for a good cause, even thu we know it might damage the country on the short run, but it will defiantly help Egypt on the long run.

this is what the west and Israel want, Egypt economy is destroyed, Libya is also destroyed, same with Yemen and the war in Syria... This "Arab Spring" is not for Arabs but rather its for the west..

The "Arab Spring" is the best thing that ever happened in this region, since a very long time. Rome wasn't built in a day. Human rights are worth the fight. Human rights are the essence for a strong nation.

I and most protesters don't care who is in office, as long as there is a constitution that respects ALL human rights and freedom or speech and beliefs, and gives all parties the same chance in any elections. We are fighting for a good cause, even thu we know it might damage the country on the short run, but it will defiantly help Egypt on the long run.

They might be against universal human right, freedom of speech and belief, but they are elected with majority. Which means majority in egypt do not want these values.
In democracy, minority should not hold majority to ransom using threat of violence. They should educate people. wait and seek change. The constitution can be modified later, what is special.

Any law or constitution that doesn't agree with any of it's articles is not recognizable. Out of 50 Egyptians who have the right to vote, 33.5 didn't vote, 10(At least half can't read or write but bribed with money, food to vote) voted in favor, and 6.5 voted against the Constitution. The majority didn't say a thing. The majority rules, but doesn't control the rights of any individual and his/her freedom. When injustice becomes the law resistance is a duty

You can take egypt to international court for abrogating a treaty, surely there must be lots of lawer among the secularist who can do that.
