The Egyptian Armed Forces has reached an agreement with the US Department of Defence through the Excess Defence Article program for military equipment.

The agreement includes the sale of 50 M270 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems and 65 LANTIRN targeting pods.

The Egyptian Army already operates 44 M270 MLRS at this time. The Egyptian Air Force also operates the LANTIRN system alongside the DB-110 Recce pods and Sniper targeting pods for their fleet of F-16s.

M270 carry a serious punch. The range will be defined by the upgrade MLRS receives and the ammo used.
It will be interesting to see against whom will Egypt use this weapon.

F-16 was already a bomb truck for EAF, now a few more will get guidance for payload delivery and all weather capability. Rejection of F-15E makes little impact with induction of Rafale.

The american visits is normal it was already like this before 2011 , the Russian and french visits however is a new "thing"

if i need to buy MLRS , I will like to buy SH-5 from china, i can buy more then 100 SH-5 for the same amount of money............if i am not wrong.

Tos-1 is considered as Heavy Flamethrower System to destroy fortification and about SR5 is low price cost effective norinco made MORE mobile ( chines copy of HIMARS).some alternative since you gyes are buying weapons from out side of USA.............

any way i have a feeling that Russia made the best MLRS system.

They do not want to lose a strategic ally to Russia . that is why..

There is a serious question of upgrading the EAF F-16s to the V version..
