Economy to grow 7.25 per cent.

PK seriously need to integrate with SAARC. They are holding Afhganistan with them as well. It could had been a huge economic and geographical block if we all could work together. They need to let go Kashmir for their own good rather work positively so that the border become irrelevant.

Totally disagree, Kashmir is an issue thats between Pakistan and india but ultimately its upto the people of Kashmir to decide their future (independence, pakistan or india). SAARC is not really that much in terms of a economic block, dominated by india and ranks low in respect to relative export earning potential (a dead Dodo).

Pak -India rivalry is holding Saarc back.

You guys need to let this go... Kashmir not going to come to PK. Be realistic.

I dont think status qou going to change unless India itself disintegrate.

Its not the SAARC as a charter but connectivity and peace will pay its own dividend.

Our economy is not export dependant . We have a military budget of $ 8-10 Billion with undisclosed sum on nuclear weopons. That means we have less money available to us for other things. Despite that we are ahead in most economic indicators like GDP per capita , Household median income , Stock exchange returns . Pakistan got upgraded to MCSI emerging market while BD is still a frontier market. Our stock exchange is currently in top 5 in the world in terms of performance.

Thats exactly the issue, your defence expenditure requirements have hampered you to the extent that it prevents your investment in the real economy. Your stuck spending a huge portion of the budget on non productive areas, while we are free to invest in the infra to achieve rapid economic growth.

Once the required levels of growth are achieved, we can spend 2-3% of the GDP on defence instead of the current 1.2%.....

At this point of time any government that walks out of Kashmir issue is going to shoot itself in the foot. People are going to hang them. Well its not just what we want. We hold 1/3 Kashmir and India wants that and Gilgit Baltistan.

The first step needed to be done in saarc is have no visa requirement for citizens similar to ASEAN. But Ind - Pak hostilities have made sure that saarc is rendered useless. Afghanistan became a war zone for Ind - Pak proxy wars , Both want a friendly government in BD with PK supporting BNP . Same is the situation in Nepal where Raw and ISI are trying to outdo each other. Saarc has become a football field for both nations to have a slugfest.

Sorry can't agree on that, the only economy/market of SAARC thats of any value is india. ASEAN markets, US, EU, China, Japan are far bigger and more viable. SAARC has had its day and gone, if China was a member then maybe....but now its a place where ministers waste time meeting for no good reason.

The current growth is 5 %. With CPEC its going to go to 7 % in couple of years. Bangladesh can grow more if it improves its infrastructure and Logistics. Your previous governments paid less attention to infrastructure.

Think that 7.5% may even be possible.

With good gdp growth, increasing tax base and 10s of billions of infrastructure flowing from China, Russia, Japan ADB etc things are looking very good for BD.

keep voting for Hasina ji & you will soon become a Asian tiger

Europe has Peaked and is on the Decline, Asia is on the rise

We are two poor nations in this vast world. Let not compete with each other. There are many nations to compete and to look up.

All the best to Pakistan and India and all other South Asian Country. If we keep developing we will definitely overtake the west. And maybe with cooperation wi try each other we can create a South Asian union like EU.
Western countries are too far above us. Some of these country's per capita GDP is more than $40,000 US, while ours is still just above $1200. Within the next few years even the Vietnamese economy may surpass us. Thailand is also far above us since three decades ago. All the South Asian countries should target to become well developed countries at par with Malaysia. Why should we compare with Pakistan? All of us should achieve what Malaysia and Turkey have achieved.

7% is really optimistic. Even your government has said GDP growth will be 4.5% this year and is expected to reach 4.8% next year. Bangladesh is expected to grow at 7.25% this year and maybe 7.5% in 2017....the Padma bridge will provide real contectivity to the eastern and western sections of Bangladesh for the first time and add around 0.8-1% to the GDP.

Once the Infra comes on line (roads, rail, ports, power), you are going to see a huge jump in the economic activity with near double digit growth.

Awami League is likely to get 1-2 more terms.

"Tiger" economy is possible by next decade.

Actually BD is at 1400 US dollars.

You are right BD should aim for Malaysia over the next 2-3 decades.

Well not today but maybe a South Asian Union is possible in 2050, too soon? Then 2070? Western countries have peaked. They are not going to grow much. Many of them are even on population decline with people over retirement age increasing.
We the South Asian ones have a lot of room to grow and eventually surpass them. Indian economy likely to even beat USA's by 2050. We should be in top30 economies by 2030. Top 20 by 2050. Pakistan should be in a similar position as well. We just need to keep the upward growth going. Corruption is the biggest threat I see on the way. Sadly we suffer a lot from it. If it can be tackled even a bit it will do wonders for us all South Asian brothers and sisters.

It was 4.8 % this year and 5.2 % next year according to ADB. It will take alot of time for you to catch up with us because our infrastructure and logistics is already developed and we are ahead by like 10-15 years in that department. To top that once CPEC takes off in a year time it will be a game changer.

We are building the costliest 6 lane 1500 Km expressway in the world. That will bring our total lengh of expressways to 2700 - 3000 km.

The good news is India , Pakistan and BD are developing at a fast rate.

Our 6 lane expressways are almost the same length as India a country 5 times bigger than us. :D We are also building the costliest 6 lane 1500 Km expressway in the world. That will bring our total lengh of expressways to 2700 - 3000 km.

These so called Bangladeshis are doped with indian and awami propaganda of hatred against Pakistan without knowing real picture of Pakistan. I am personally well aware of Pakistani infrastructure, which are 10-15 years ahead of Bangladesh existing condition. In many case much better than what available in greater india. I had spoken to group of journalists who visited Pakistan were from all flavors of Bangladeshi news media, including indian and awami influenced media journalists (from prothom alo and kaler kontho). According to all of them they were shocked on facts

1) misconception that Pakistan is war torn country but in reality that is not true. They felt more safe than in Bangladesh.
2) infrastructure and quality of life (with SOME exception of SriLanka) in Pakistan they found much advanced than anywhere in South Asia.

Having that understanding, plus investment of $52 billion in infrastructure, industry and economic activities, Pakistan will excel further in infrastructure, economy and living standard than any other country in South Asia.

Let these doped up awami cheer leaders confined to their own idiotic bubble.
