Are all the 6 players submitting their price or IAF has done with its shortlisting and Eurofighter is one of them?

Shortlisting is not complete ,
Air-Marshal told Force Magazine in June interview
-

- Evaluation is over, report to be submitted to the GoI by end of next month
- Cannot state how things will move or unfold thereafter
- IAF had certain basic parameters on which they tested the aircraft. Some were very good on certain parameters while some did better on other parameters. Now, they will need to draw a mean line across all off them. Given this, there is no certainty whether there will be any down-selection of fighters or not. There may be, there may not be.
- the most important aspects for the IAF are design, airframe, capability, base price and life cycle cost.
- GoI may take upto 6 months to study the report after which it will ask the participating companies to submit their tenders. Only then will the exact cost of each machine be known, both base price as well as life cycle costs.
- Following it, Commercial Negotiation Committee (CNC) will meet and these negotiations should carry on for some time.

Eurofighter will be the biggest surprise, if at all it gets selected for short-list .

Yes to the most advanced version, the problem is only, that not even the members have decided what this means. TVC is possible, but needs fundings, UK wants CFTs, but that needs also funds and time, even AESA radar development is not completed and funded.

EF should be out of the race as far as AESA funding is concerned. I dont believe IAF even evaluated captor aesa.

EF IS GREAT A2A PERHAPS MOST RESPECTED AFTER F-35/22...

BUT THE TWO BIGGEST ISSUES WITH THIS AWESOME FIGHTER ARE....

1. THE ToT ... And the SYNC OF THE CONSORTIUM AND THE RELATED DIPLOMATIC GAIN.

2. THE A2G CAPABILITIES ARE NOT SPECTACULER WHEN COMPARED TO SH/ RAFALE.

Rafale as welll with AESA and Most advanced Meteors.

Rafale is special as its IAFs Choice being the sister or Mirage V.

For full ToT mig 35 is good choice...

ToT is not that important , as long as we control the production lines and can manufacture most out own spare we should be happy.

Nothing on the Mig-35 we don't get on the Mig-29K

Mig-35 is not ready yet and it could lead to more delays.

Pending current US policy on Importing to India.

It would be the best choice to go for a European firm.

The Eurofighter , Rafael and even the GRipen are the only decent choices in my book.

Frankly the F-18E/F is not what we are looking for.

And F-16 is not what the IAF want's , In fact IAF officials were always rather negative towards the F-16. It's only there to bench mark the rest of the jet's .

Frankly it would come down to a decision between the European firms.

Rafael seems like a sure bet , with it offering full ToT to meet the tender requirements , Including the Radar's source code.

I am getting seriously tied of seeing MRCA news now! when are we actually going to select one? it just keps dragging on! in case people havent notcied, Pak already getting f-16s and chinese fleet keeps getting bigger!

we have to make a decision fast

Relax, this was all planned out. We will know next year who is the winner.

And also even if we select now , many of the suppliers are still not ready with the planes. Except for America of course. A lot of the planes are using the very lattest upgrades that have just come of the drawing board

As , that is something to even worry about.

and chinese fleet keeps getting bigger!

We can't do anything about that ,

China already make their own jet's , plus they have a larger budget and conscript their troops , including pilots.

At this point they have more tech , money and manpower.

Well , this show's you why we don't want Imports , a lot of bureaucracy come's with this process.

All this is done to reduce corrupt and ensure we get the finest products

But one thing is clear MRCA competition become " Ijjat ka Sabal " for all competitors . Because plane that select by India unofficially declared best 4.5 gen fighter.

For full ToT mig 35 is good choice...

We get the bests from Russia through MKI and PAK FA we should not go for another Russian fighter. WE need latest European fighter. I prefer EF Typhoon. :)

They have covered everything here. God knows what they want, I also wish they get what they want. But at this point it looks like it will be very difficult for IAF to choose a fighter....

Last but not the least. The "life cycle cost"...
After the tech gets transfered to India, I guess all the fighters will have "almost" similar life cycle cost.

But Will they also train India to maintain the ACs or they will maintain themselves?
