In a sharp contradiction to what is common among Muslims, Khaled Al Gendy, a famous Islamic cleric and a member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, stated that drinking liquor without getting drunk is not sinful.

“If the same alcoholic drink was consumed by one person without getting drunk, it is not haram, while being consumed by another person to drunkenness makes it haram [for this person],” the sheikh said, highlighting the difference between drinking liquor and getting drunk.

During a talk show on DMC TV channel, Al Gedy said that getting drunk is haram, sinful and forbidden in Islam, and all Islamic sharia laws related to the punishment apply to getting drunk as a consequence of drinking alcoholic beverages.

A drunken person is defined as one who cannot tell the bottom of a valley from its top, Al Gendy added.

According to Abo Hanifa, a renowned Islamic scholar for sharia lawmaking and often called the Great Imam, drinking alcohol without getting drunk is not sinful.

Har vo cheez jo Nasha paida karay khamr kay zumray mein aati hai or Jis say Nasha na ho vo haram kaisay hoi.
Conterodiction is that if same people drink alcohol and one get drunk and one don't making people confuse if it's getting drunk one then it's haram even with those who don't get drunk with 200ml.

What a stupid statement. The whole point of drinking liquor isn't because it tastes nice, in fact most alcoholic drinks vary from tasting like the sweat from an athletes sock to nail polish. You drink it to get wasted. It's also pretty hard to control yourself and know when you have drank too much.

Classical case of someone talking without thinking.

You never know how when you will jump from one peg to 2 , 3, 4 etc

Islam say wine has some benefits but it bring more harms than benefits so thats why forbidden

The only purpose of drinking alcohol is to get drunk.
thats true for some people or sometime... poor people in India... or teenagers/college folks/lads here... but many drink to socialize... especially on weekdays when you have to go to work next day... most people drink beer here not whiskey(which will get you drunk pretty quick).
