Does PAF need (Strategic) Bombers?

we need stratagic bombers for our war on terror, not for india, plz take a cool glass of water, it wasnt directed towards india.

Dude.......I wasnt worried about bombing India using strategic bombers.
U are most welcomed to.You only will realise after fielding them in a realtime war scenario.

And coming to the point of buying Tu-160,again U r most welcomed to do so if and only if you can buy one such bomber at a price tag of $800-900 million depending on avionics.

I would like to see fielding S-300PMU (which is russian SAM) against Tu-160(again a russian high end bomber).
Then we will decide which one wins...lol.

It does if you want to bomb somewhere very far like 5.000 miles! But i would rather missiles! Dont waste your money on that! Strategic bombers need heavey maintenance. Actually the maintenance cost more than the bomber itself! Like ol Tomcats! And you will be needing some of your fighters to escort the bomber all the time! Since its very expensive!

Strategic bombers are only good for wannabe superpowers! :-S And from what i been study, both of our countries follow the Defensive doctrine i know that, your doctrine is offensive or "Attack first" but it has changed in the recent 2 years.

A member in the forum wrote we need them; say only two, to deal with the present operation in waziristan..No doubt maintenance cost, escorts etc are the major problems, tahz I am of the view we need multi purpose jets like F16 Jf17, J10.
