I wouldn't call the last 150 years everything was stupidity. China was plagued by civil wars and power struggle, after WW2 China was in ruins and then we were fighting each other in the form of Communists and KMT. Chiang was a military strategist and the KMT did back stab the Communists while they were supposed to be working together defeating the Japanese. KMT shouldn't only be portrayed as the good guys and Mao shouldn't be seen as just a dictator. Qin Shi Huang defeated every state to unite as one country, that's what Mao succeeded and Chiang failed. Dr. Sun witnessed the last Dynasty as a weak form of government and wanted reform. Mao and Chiang were also supporters of his view. Too bad Dr. Sun died too early and everyone were too busy with power struggle. Mao did made some mistakes (Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution) plus killing political opponents who were loyal to Mao. He does resemble the Qin emperor in a way but he also did many good hings and that's what many people (especially the western world) don't want to mention. They enjoy labeling him as a dictator and wondering why Chinese worship Mao. Many British and white don't know what their country did to China thus Chinese people get all the critics for praising Mao. The man liberated China from foreign invaders and uniting China as a whole. If it wasn't for Mao China would be a western slave and thanks to Deng China opened up with the economic reform.

While Confucius' teaching plays or had played an important role in Chinese civilization, i do have to wonder if Dr. Sun was a follower of this ideology when he wanted reform because the last Dynasty had let our people down. I know Kolaps is no supporter of CCP or Maoist but demanding China to drop it and embrace Confucianism again in order to unite with Taiwan is not exactly what mainlanders would want to hear. The current China is now still united with 56 ethnics, a population of 1.3 bln and growing stronger and developing very fast. It's making up for the bad decisions in the past under Mao thanks to the constant reform. Many social problem rises due to the economical development such as environmental and health issues, the growing gap between poor and the rich, corrupt officials etc. Will embracing Confucianism solve all these problems? I don't think so. During the different Dynasties plenty officials were corrupt as well. Just look at that former president Chen who is now in jail for corruption.

Missiles pointing at Taiwan are staying, after unification they will be removed and Taiwan will start growing faster than you can imagine.
