What's new

Discussion: some technically acquired images of Indian Air bases Jodhpur.

Spectra evolves with the time.
The antenna already have changed, and next step (very soon, and maybe already made) is GaN.
Calculators capacity already are not the same than Rafale F1 or F2 ones. So are data bases and jam techniques.
F3R, F4 standards all includes improvements on Spectra.
So does EFT DASS and other 4.5th gen jets electronic warfare systems are upgraded or being to upgrade why you think the have no electronic warfare system compare to RAFALE because India chose RAFALE so it electronic warfare system become OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE :undecided::what:o_O

Spectra Suite of Rafale has Active cancellation which can even block AESA

Europeans are Ahead in Terms of Avionics than US in some regard
There is one very important point to note : France since the deterrent Mirage IV era invested and invest now huge money on plane electronic survivability. It was a key point to gave some insurrance to our small Mirage fleet to penetrate the USSR SAM shied. ANd Spectra, in all the differents block (F1, F2, different F3 modes, F3R, next F4) is the final result of all that amount of knowledge. This is why France is probably ahead US on that special tech.
And it's not without reasons that France is the sole western country to have a mature AESA fighter radar on duty at least 8 years before all the others except USA. All the developpment in electronics (including electronic counter measures) helped to study that PESA and now AESA radar.

You know other 4.5th gen jets like EFT/J-10C/GRIPEN NG/MIG-35/Su-35 are using which electronic warfare systems which may be better than your RAFALE SPECTRA
Spectra dev phase consumed 25% of the whole Rafale R&D costs. I've a great doubt about Gripen, J10 and russian products to even match it !

So that's criteria you have to put to prove your point, it doesn't seems logical to me there is possibility that some of the 4.5th gen jets have a better and a classified electronic warfare suite better than RAFALE at much lower cost this is just my 2 cent

India chose Rafale before it can do all mission very effectively.
EF is better in air defense, specially in high altitude (but the swiss 2011 eval leaks are not so clear...), but is worst in all other fields.
Gripen is too light, to limited, too short legs, and in direct competition with Tejas.
F16 (or F21  ) is now too old, too heavy for the now too small wings, and therefore show some issues in handlings. (It was a so nice fighter up to block 30 more or less. After it become fat).
SH18 performs less than Rafale even if 30% heavier. It is just less expensive, but the US rules to use it (as F16) are very stricts. Ask UAE or Egypt about it.
Mig 35 don't ind any cistomer, including russian air force....

In a few words, Rafale is not the best in any fields, but performs very well in all.

Jodhpur while an important base is not the 'main' base, its more like an administrative base with 1 su-30mki sq and one almost phased out mig-21 sq.

Anyway right now hardened shelter in west front are proof against cruise missiles, but not SRBMs or bunker busters or heavy PGMs launched by aircraft. But since pak doesnt have sufficient conventional SRBMs ,eastern bases are given priority for construction of new generation hardened shelters capable of taking ballistic missile hits at tezpur, chabua and hasimara because of PLA 2nd artillery corps with dozens(scalable to hundreds) of SRBMs in tibet.Cruise missiles would still cause heavy damage to radar stations and command posts and destroy aircraft caught in the open or in light hangars.Thankfully ammo depot and reserve command centre is underground and relatively safe.
Either way its a double edged sword.PAF has only 3 main bases for its F-16s.Sargodha,Jacobabad and Bholari.Army has 700-800 brahmos missiles in 4 regiments plus reloads, navy has around 200 and airforce has 200 on order plus 100 scalp with bunker busting broach warheads on order.Any pakistani attack on indian airbases would be answered with overwhleming devastation.Though i'm not sure about the level of protection offered by pakistani air force base shelters.

Evidence 1 : During electronic training MACE XIII (I'm not sure about the "XIII") Rafale was the sole that fliew over a S300 without beeing track. Even dedicated F16CJ can't..... And All the others were virtualy destroyed, including Gripen.
Evidence 2 : Rafale came first and flew over Lybia without problem.
Evidence 3 : In april 2018, Rafale fired SCALP missile on Syria, along GB and US fighters. Russians in Tartous admit not having detected the french fighter wave.

And some other evidence, like a famous training between GB EF2000 and French Rafale, where the GB pilots were unable to have a fire solution. Since that and another famous training in Corsica between these two birds (7 to 1 for Rafale against EF !!!), GB refuses to train A to A against Rafale.....

Nope There Is No More Sophisticated EW than Spectra Except on F-35
Once the F35 will be fully operationnal. Saying circa 2035 ? :P

According to our Indian friends, it had decimated the Rafale's in Aerial Exercises and this was trumpeted all around
Facts are, from french sources :
in BVR Rafale was better, and it was in a time when only MICA was integrated. Just imagine the new gap with Meteor.
In WVR SU30 was better, because it has a helmet viewfinder. With the Elbit helmet, the gap will be at least partially filled.

But things may evolve. Su30 will probably received a new and powerfull AESA radar, maybe new AA missiles....

Rafale was not purchased for AA mission, but for deep strike. Even if the combo with Meteor is another ace in the Indian hands.

use google lazy boy ! (it's a joke).

I will try to fing it specially for you.

F-35 already have initial operational capabilities with various air forces, USA have more than 500 F-35
Everybody knows that this IOC is fully political.
The bird can't fired a moving target, its internal canon (when it have one) don't fired straight, the famous ALIS system failed miserably, the first 200 units can't be upgraded, so will be limited to aero show training, the max G is limited to 7.5, the stealth skin in the back don't resist to high speed (the pilots can't used the jet in supersonic speed more than few minutes and have to wait after that some time before another attempt)....

Ok ok what next
Most pilots can't sustain more than 6 Gs very few can sustain 9Gs or above but only for few seconds, super cruise is irrelevant for 5th gen and up coming 6th gen jets and its can sustain supersonic speed because its uses high by pass ratio turbofan for quietness

Sorry to bust your dreams my friend, Rafale may be a potent fighter as you suggest. But this time the end user is IAF ,who are notoriously known to give a very bad name to the supplier.

Update:

Possible Hangers being constructed at Jodhpur for Rafale jets.

First of all let's look at the design of French hangers. At French Airforce base.

See these 2 Pics one has white hangers and other has blue hanger.

These are hangers at French Airforce base.

Something similar to this design of hangers has just popped up recently at Jodhpur air base.

This type of design was previously not available on Indian air bases.

And this recent image shown that the hanger is complete.

Hangers have 2 way access to the runway. Both hanger are located mid of runway on east side. The design of the hangers have not been seen on Indian air bases previously. The design of the hangers is similar to hangers on French air bases.
