Dhaka, Apr 4 (bdnews24.com) – The government proposes to name an important road in the capital after late Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi to honour her contribution to the Liberation War.

"Roads named after them in the diplomatic area are also being planned."

Meanwhile, foreign minister Dipu Moni said the list of the foreign nationals contributing to the Liberation War would be completed this year.

In the list, some Pakistani nationals were also included as they also condemned and protested against genocide in Bangladesh, Moni said.

I think, there is already a road named after Indira in Dhaka. Then, why again? Instead of naming roads on foreign dignitaries, the GoB should build more roads and bypasses to ease the traffic jam.

As for Pakistani nationals in whose names the GoB want to name roads, I would like to propose the names of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and General Yahya Khan. Were not these two responsible for the military action instead of a political dialogue that initiated the process of a break up of Pakistan?
