ARTIFICIAL intelligence (AI) poses a threat to humanity’s existence, according to a startling new report.

Artificial intelligence could lead to the end of humanity
The rise of the machines could ultimately lead to the downfall of humanity, it has been suggested, if it is not controlled properly.

The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual Global Risk study pinpoints AI as one of the danges that the world faces this year.

Experts have touted the evolution of technology as exacerbating the threat to geopolitical stability, job security and social relationships in recent years.

The report, which surveyed 750 experts, says that the eventual rise of AI could lead to humans either becoming extinct, or losing their place as the dominant species on the planet.

• Actually if you look at world map 95% of earth's land is inhabited , and of course 99.99% of sea is inhabited by Humans

This theory that humans need a mindless entity "AI" which can act based on predetermined criteria or execute command without asking just serves one purpose "Destruction"

Un Ethical , acts that most humans reject to do

AI will be servant of apocolypse but before it reaches that level , it will destroy the social structure in communities world wide

If the amount of $$ spent on IA is spent on farming , we would have no hungry person in world

Nothing of this sort will happen. As AI is developed, humans will also get chip implants in their brains to match the AI's processing speeds.

The only thing we have to worry about is where to draw the line between sentient and non-sentient AI to prevent apartheid. But it won't affect humans. And this is so long in the future that the ones reading this post today may very well not live that long.

Automation does not equal AI. Just because some drone drops off a package doesn't mean there is any threatening AI being used.
Amazon hasn't achieved any breakthroughs in AI as far as I know...other than *maybe* the Echo.
