Democracy is a failed experiment

China was poor DURING the communist years. Raising people out of poverty? By whose standards? Americans on welfare live better than most of the world's population. So who is really blind now?

Perhaps you need to watch more Moore movies. He is not 100% right, but his movies are eye openers

and besides this discussion i see it as being a discussion on notions not actual practices of said theories.

communism in theory simply allows for access to all by all

capitalism in theory requires more of something (money) to be generated and accrued every time turn. This is impossible, can't you see it ?
There is a finite amount of money, a finite amount of anything, there is simply no viable way some (even if their rise to the top of the capitalist food chain is justified by skills or whatever) can amass more and more and more from something that does not exist. If they amass it, the wide majority doesn't have it. And that leads to crisis.

How can you not see that ?

Yup, Moore is only %99 wrong. And it is an eye opener on why so many believe him. Did you know that he is a millionaire?

So all that believe him surprises you eh? maybe they are right and you may be wrong

You mean you will create different categories of citizens and decide who will vote and will not. That will indirectly create a class system that almost all countries are trying to avoid or demolish.
Here what I want a state to look like:

1) State should grant personal freedoms and rights to every citizen.
2) There must be a separation of powers: executive, legislature, judiciary.
3) Power must change. When one person stays in power for too long he gets nuts like Ghaddafi.

These are most important issues to me, not elections. Government should be responsible and profesional. And best way if it will be elected by reponsible people.

Gambit can you get off your high horse. Most people except you accept there is no perfect model of governance and I think we would be wise to look at many models and incorporate the best parts. The problem is that you americans are such fanatics and dogmatic that you think only you know what is best not just for yourselves but for every nation on earth

But you could say the above about a number of systems. In my opinion this could stretch to include the chinese model

We are talking about the Chinese abuse of the 'Thank' feature of the forum's software, nothing to do with economics. Do try to keep up.

LOL!

It is so obviously that the Chinese are much more thankful than your thankless ingrates.

Ah...That bit of stupidity is back.

Fine...Then explain how is it that once a country became entirely communist, that country remained -- wealth wise -- inferior to capitalist neighbors. Not only that, we had communist blocs where they aided and traded with each other. That mean the Soviet Empire should not have collapsed and the Chinese would not have reformed. The Internet would have been a communist invention. And the rest of the world would have so jealous that everyone would be a communist.

Only ignorant like you would believe Soviet was running communism. In a true communism, power belongs to people: workers, peasants and soldiers, etc. not bureaucrats.

Regardless, you can't deny that Soviet first invented sending people to the orbit...

It is quite surprising that one is arguing about communism being superior to democracy even in 2010s!

I guess fall of USSR was not enough for some people.

And only brain-washed like you has no independent thinking. No wonder your democracy is a farce - killing 2 million children a year, making Soviet look pale.

I better not thank you too much because Gambit will tell me im abusing the thanking system cos im giving thanks to someone that doesnt agree with him:rofl:

Well, gamit, you will never have any consideration in the reality. Do you think What the situation China has in 1949? Most developing countries have a better situation than China in the beginning, but they have the same success and China now, even 1979? You forgot the West have a very severe sanctions to China, and even the Soviet Union also later, as a semi-colonial, our self-reliance, the previous 30 years of PRC in the rise of China has laid a foundation, do not forget it. As for hunger, so Well, first of all, you really do not know something, I do not want to explain, second, you can blame the CCP is not enough work to do in people's lives, I also agree with it, however, for heavy industry, the skeleton of the major powers no more cheap option, you know what Japanese people pay for it? even the Korean people? You do not know anything, gamit.

Please to be elaborating your esteemed opinion how this can be 'stretched' to 'include' the Chinese model. Explanation?

Communism looks good on paper, but has failed practically. Hence the Chinese bosses have tried to include some capitalism and a token democracy into the system. If power truly belonged to the people, then why is it concentrated in the very few politburo members' hands? Why dont the people have any say? Got any answers?

Space race was a an ongoing effort on both sides of the Atlantic - with USSR ending up the first to put a man into orbit! So spare us these naive claims.

And only brain-washed like you has no independent thinking. No wonder your democracy is a farce - killing 2 million children a year, making Soviet look pale.
If democracy is a farce, pray do tell us what is the better alternative? You got so much brains to criticize democracy, the surely you must have the brains to suggest an alternative, no?

Simple the three factors talked about all exist in china. Just cos you are brainwashed into thinking something else doesnt mean that some form of all three factors exist. Western propaganda and subliminal anti china propaganda is common. I have visited china 2 times and loved it and have all the time in the world for them. I remember when I go through northern european airports or america I can smell the racism, in china I felt at peace.

Dont take off on a tangent. Irrelevant. I asked for specific examples of how you think that those three 'examples' are included in Chinese system. I asked you a very clear question, and since I dont know, I expect an answer from you.

Secondly, you claim that democracy is a bad thing. Agreed. But then why are you trying to defend some of the very democratic principles which you claim to exist in China? Are you confused about democracy?

Well, the right of the United States also is focused on the hands of few people or families. And there is a different China, 1979 was a watershed, before 1979, china is a socialist

First Western-style democracy does not apply to developing countries, past and present sufficient evidence, only East Asian country to industrialize, but they have a totalitarian phase to focus on economic development. What other democratic countries the situation, I need to explain?

There are a variety of democracy, that there is democracy in China 1979 years ago and I think it is not suitable for developing countries, "it" refers to Western democracy ..
