Delhi CWG becomes biggest in terms of participation

Apart from being the biggest in terms of participation... I think it has earned another dubious title attached to it.... the most discussed about and the most criticized... :-D

Thanks buddy.

I think bias is pointless anyway, it just clouds your own judgement with false information.

Like Deng Xiaoping said: "I don't care if a cat is black or white, all I care about is how well it catches mice." Pragmatism at it's finest.

thats what i came here for.. friendship, support and peace across nations..

You know Dezi, what I think is this. The more serious the sickness, the bigger the needle will be. Over the years and still continuing are sub standard and not up to date methods of everything. I hope that this jolt will get people in authority to understand that we have to change the way things have been. There has tobe a sense of pride and an ambition to be perfect among our leaders, they can then tranlate that into policy at the grass roots. India needs a social revolution big time, once that is achieved, quality and everything else will be achieved. Therefore, investement in eradication of poverty and education of the rural people will help in going a long way. One thing I appreciate in Canada, is that my kids are taught to be polite, they are taught manners, the education system is different from India, its not so intense, but even at a young age it teaches them to research. In India , I believe we have to also educate our little ones in how to behave in society, how to achieve cleanliness, how to exercise our manners. If that is made a part or our curriculum, in time, we will have an India that is admired and emulated by the world. Its a daunting task, but like the great wall of China, let it begin with one stone.

The problem with the authorities managing the problems is that there is little or no accountability. In private sector there is a risk of losing your job if you do not meet your targets, there is absolutely nothing like that in our govt.

You have a valid point on the education system wherein teaching values and respect for others are taught to our kids. It is not the solution to the problem that we are discussing though. It is in the career choice that most of the young kids make these days... fuelled by the lucrative private sector. If you look at the demographics... almost all the intelligent and above average end up in the private sector and the rest have to join the govt sector only because they didn't have any other choice. Now these people want to compensate their sense of achievement by indulging in the scrupulous activities and deviate from the righteous path of doing things ethically.

Once the govt sector can attract the above average minds... we will have solved half the problem.

I quite agree with you. In my life time, I never dreamed that we would be economically as we are today. I hope that as things unfold for India, its sense of justice and righteousness enters in. I think corruption entered our society namely because of high poverty, but I hope and I hope earnestly as living standards improve, so will our moral standards.

.
Yes definitely.... I can already see that most of the young people in the private sector are raising arms against corruption in the bureaucracy and refusing to be a part of it. Sense of righteousness and respect to others will only come once economic balance has been achieved. Till then we will just have to hang on to our wishes.

Everything starts with a dream. Our job is to make that dream a reality for our respective peoples, and I think we are both on the right path.

Also, corruption is unavoidable in developing countries like China and India, the best we can do is reduce it to manageable levels.

In Hong Kong we use the "carrot and stick" approach... pay government officials a high salary so they don't have to steal money in the first place, but if they ignore that and steal money anyway, punish them very severely.

.
Thats a good way to ward off corruption.... but the reality in India is that there are so many people in the govt hierarchy, it will cost a significant amount of money to keep them happy plus there is no guarantee that these people will not indulge in corruption even with a higher salary. It has to come within the person's mind and heart and cannot be something forced upon him from outside.

Anyways... waiting eagerly for the opening ceremony on Sunday! Hoping for a spectacular event.

Yippie. Its a tight slap to the cowards who pulled out over the exaggerated security concerns. Now all they can do is whine and watch the games sitting in their bean bags back home.

.
Lets not brag about it... and make sure nothing else goes south from here on. If they realize their folly, let them do so in the comfort of their own homes, safe and sound. Hope the members who made it have a great time and share their experiences with ones who couldn't make it.

Its a better version, just remove Rehman from the vocals, his voice is not what inspires you. I appreciate the genius that is Rehman (the composer) but certainly not the signer. Anyways, lets go on with what we have got and lets be proud. we are what we are (cha**** #$^ &^&E *^F ) etc etc, but hey, if we were not what we are , this world would be a dull place

Chinese Dragon, you are a good person. I have read a lot of your posts and you dont hold the bias.

Point is not whether person is bias or not. What is point here is that he even want to be friend ever or not. Since some people don't like some other country they will not only be bias but will be bashing. Since I don't give damn to bashing and only try to explain in simple way which itself attract other country fellow man to warn their own country person saying anything. If remember, member like idune, mowaichai and schinese are always bashed by their own members. :hang2:
