How long it will take to be fully operational ...???
Depends, if it's existing technology it can be operationalzed within three successful test launch, while in case of new technology it is tested at least dozen times before it gets in operational service. That's my observation at personal level.

We have the ababeel/babur which are the most advanced missiles in the world currently no worries :pakistan:

The BMD system was proposed to India’s political leadership by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in the mid-1990s, a former cabinet secretary told The Indian Express. It was triggered by Pakistan’s acquisition of M-11 missiles from China. The proposal was to provide cover for Delhi, Mumbai and two other strategically important sites. DRDO is believed to have started work on the programme in 1999.

DRDO first spoke of a BMD system in December 2007. All building blocks for Phase 1 of a two-layered, fully integrated system were to be in place by 2010. In March 2010, Dr V K Saraswat of DRDO promised initial systems deployment by 2013.

On May 7, 2012, DRDO declared it had developed a Missile Defence Shield that could be put in place at short notice at two selected locations in the country, presumably Delhi and Mumbai. The system would be able to tackle incoming ballistic missiles of range up to 2,000 km. DRDO also said that long-range tracking radars, real-time data-link and mission control systems needed for the perationalisation of the BMD had been “realised”.

Also, the BMD system can only intercept missiles launched from 900-1,000 km away; the Chinese Dong Feng-21 ballistic missile with a range of 1,700-2,000 km be intercepted.

Indian Navy had also successfully test launched the long range surface-to-air missile (LR-SAM). The test was undertaken on the Western Seaboard by INS Kolkata on December 30, 2015.

By these posts, you are only inviting distasteful comments towards your nation. Seriosuly never heard of a country importing locomotives but developing MIRV.

You know meaning of cryogenic engine? It's like sending ice to space with bioling bottom. India's upcoming CE 20 has no 200 KN counterpart in Russia.

Dude, with decreasing education percentage, no University in top 500 and not even 1/20th of patents filed by Pakistan as compared to India, you are no one to question Indian defense projects whilst your greatest scientist AQ khan under house arrest and CEO of nuclear Walmart.

We have the ababeel/babur which are the most advanced missiles in the world currently no worries :pakistan:

Seriously, I am not going to rant over 70 cc moped, but please build your locomotives first which are backbone of a nation.
What you guys are smoking seriously? Trying macho in front of a nation who sent first successful mission to moon and Mars and sent 104 satellites in one go!!! Really?? Is zia ul haq and AL taqquia still valid?

Mate you're free to disagree with anyone but please read politely his posts or at least check points he highlighted. Shaheen is unbiased and knowledgeable member.

Jailer
He is saying green pine cannot detect Mach 8 and beyond which is not correct add to that the Prithvi missile used as target can have a solid second stage.

He is knowledgeable but not accurate.

How much foreign input was their??????????just like your cryogenic engines, all reverse engineered tech, besides we have Mirv and Prithvi is hardly a capable missile,,,,,,,,,,I still think you should rely on Lord Indra Vajra weapon!
I wonder what kind of expertise you possess to call Prithvi a "hardly" capable missile.
