Declassified documents related '71 War

So cross border terrorism by India proved once again.

Not at all, the document states India tried to prevent radicalisation of Mukti Bahini, quite a difficult task given the realities of operation search light.

Something Pakistan could have done when they faced a similar situation in Afghanistan and the influx of refugees. But for some reason Pakistan decided radicalisation was cool.

This is how much the US liked Mrs IG and how the US was against the liberation of East Pakistan.

My guess on this is that the US sought to keep a larger area under its influence than just West Pakistan. I think it feared a pro-Indian East Pakistan and therefore tried to prevent the separation.

Cross border " terrorism' or activities by any other name is something India took out of the Pak book.

It began when after accession of J&K to India , Pak sent across parts of its armed forces as ' tribals' into that state. Then later in 65 Ayub sent across armed intruders into J&K -Op Gibraltar in the vain hope of stirring the locals to rise against India.

In 71 India returned the favor.

Sending army and declaring war and supporting terrorists are two different things...

The signal indicates that India supported the MB because the options were limited!

There were a whole lot of refugees in West Bengal from East Pakistan and the West Bengal population was totally with the East Pakistani Bengalis.

Imagine the repercussion if India did anything otherwise.

I may remind you that when Mujib addressed in Calcutta after being released, the gathering was larger than what Indira Gandhi, who was also popular in Bengal, could muster!

That is the cultural, linguistic and sentimental bond that Bengalis have for people of East Bengal even though we are and will remain without any doubt, two separate countries.

What the Mother did for the Bengalis, the son failed to do down South.

Are we forgetting that Pak declared war only after the failure of Op.Gibralter. ?
