CAUTION: Hitting inside Afghanistan MUST NOT lead to harassing people who are not terrorists.
Having said that, is this report exaggerated? Why would Pak Army waste 2000/3000 shells like that?
The sensible thing to do is extend communication with the locals. Anyone displaced by our shelling should be given food, warm clothes, and shelter, as well as an apology for inconvenience caused, but most importantly, reasons for why this was done.
Since shelling leads to such a bad reaction, this should be used as an excuse to inform Afghan government that in future we will do surgical strikes using drones or heli borne special forces.
At all costs we need to protect our soft image with locals in Afghanistan.
