What's new

Deal on enclave exchange only a piece of paper: BJP

A small number compared to the Hindus who illegally emigrated to India but you discriminate of course. India being a Hindu country they are welcome whether illegal or not while Muslims are denigrated even if third generation immigrants.

Yes I discriminate only against the ones who are trying to migrate now. The Muslims who decided to stay behind in India and had trust in India in 1947 are as much Indian as any other Hindu and India is their country. Even the Biharis who escaped in 1971 should not be disturbed now. But no more fresh migration.

And trust me its not small number. You wouldn't believe it when I say it, but you ll find Muslim Bangladeshis in every state and city of India now. The ones who have recently migrated. You should visit India someday and check it out.

India got divided based on religion didn't it? So we loose half of our country and then we also host the people who decided to desert the country in 1947? Is that fair?

Hindus are welcome because India was after all meant for Hindus, Muslims who wanted to stay back, and all other minorities from erstwhile(east+west PAkistan). Wasn't that the whole point of two nation theory?

Having said that, I would still expect BSF to apprehend and arrest Hindu Bangladeshis who try and cross the border illegally, and even shoot at them if situation requires that.

Hindu/Muslim BAngladeshis if they want to come to India, apply for assylum. India has a lot of population to take care of as it is, we can't afford to have open gate policy no more.

You are wrong Mr. Munshi, they are mainly Muslims with Small Numbers of Hindus. The reason they do illegal immigration in India is population explosion and lack of jobs. You may have issues but Bangladeshis should refrain from colonizing India or dream of Greater Bangladesh.

.
There goes your secular state theory.

Nope it goes no where. All am saying is all the Muslims who decided to stay back in 1947 India is there country, and the Bihari muslims who escaped in 1971 can stay, heck anyone who migrated up until say 1990 can stay. Other recent migrants need to go. People who have been in India for say 20-25 years will have to a lot of things to show their legitimacy.

Any new migrant, Hindu/Muslim needs to come through proper channel, seek assylum. And thats that.

It defeats the purpose of two nation theory otherwise.

Why an arbitrary cut off point at 1990? What is so special about 1990?

No munshi cut off date is 1 july,1987 when India nationality law changed to jus sanguinis from jus soli by citizenship amendment act 1986.

I picked 1990 for no particular reason, but you know to chuck someone out of country who has lived there for 20-25 years would be unfair. So 1990 seemed like a fair cut off point.

But there we go, now there is a technical reason too, as mentioned by anonymous.

Basically it was a discriminatory policy to keep out Muslims. The children and grandchildren of illegal Hindu immigrants had by 1987 acquired Indian citizenship due to their parents possessing the same but the much smaller number of Muslims who entered India from Bangladesh after that date could never acquire citizenship even if they were born in the country. Interesting.

If you think so, so be it. British India was divided on the basis of religion..Muslims got their share in 1947. Stick to that part of the SA only.

 Its a policy to keep everybody out. Where did you get this cut off from? That Hindu Bangladeshis came uptil 1987 and the Muslim Bangladesh started coming after that?

Anyone who migrated after 1987 suffers. And India alone doesn't have such rules, pretty much every other secular democratic country have this citizenship rule. Secularism is for the citizens of the country, not for the outsiders.

Hindus who had not emigrated in 1947 or 1971 were unlikely to emigrate after 1987. The GOI clearly understood that after 1987 it would be mostly Muslims that would be coming in so they had to be kept out even though their numbers were minuscule. If Indian propaganda is to be believed then the 20 million illegal East Pakistani/Bangladeshi immigrants who entered India from 1947-2012 the majority would in fact be Hindu. I would estimate about 80% of illegal immigrants from East Pakistan/Bangladesh were Hindu that had entered before 1987. These have conveniently become legal while Muslims are illegal because India must be kept Hindu.

These are just your assumptions. A lot of Bihari Muslims came to India after 1971. Assam is full of them.

And about the highlighted part,

If Indian muslims "outpopulate" the Indian Hindus, I have no issues with that, its their country too. But we are not going to let Muslims from other countries in, that too illegally. Isn't that why you guys wanted your own separate country to begin with. Why must we let them in? You voted and divided India in 1947, there is no room for such people in India, or any other people for that matter now.

India is overpopulated as it is. We don't have the resources for migrants.

.
India should immediately deport all 50 million illegal Bangladeshis immigrants who entered India illegally after 1971. These illegal immigrants are spreading like cancer.

I think the GOB will have issues with you regarding the population statistics and census of Bangladesh. If 50 million Bangladeshis left for India after 1987 then the country should have a population of around 100 million. None of the figures provided by India tally with our own population statistics. Even after we take account of the almost 9 million Bangladeshis who work as unskilled labour in the Middle East and East Asia the figures provided by India make even less sense.
