Dangerous US behavior

You expect that to fly all the way from China to the US? As others have mentioned, China doesn't operate any bases close the USA. The USA however does have numerous bases dotted around Eastern and Southeastern Asia. Add even South Asia and the Middle East to that.

China only operates a small naval base close to Myanmar if I am not mistaken, but hardly comparable to that of the US in the region. The PLA's main role is to defend Chinese territorial integrity, and they are more than credible to do just that. China can hardly be considered jignostic in the context of today, unlike the USA.

If they can build the drone, they can certainly build one with a bigger fuel tank.

This is provocative indeed. Imagine foreign spy planes and fighter jets flying over the Gulf of Mexico and near the eastern coast on a routine bases.

As VCheng mentioned, nothing new. It has been going on for decades, mostly USSR/Russia, because they remain the only nation capable of such long range flights... for the moment, at least.

In the cold war, the Soviet crew would place pin-up girls' pictures in the windows for the intercepting pilots to view. It was pretty cordial, with unwritten rules. For example, the Tu-95 23mm gun at the tail remains up & locked... NOT pointed. And the intercepting aircraft fly alongside, not due aft.

Airspace has rules like the ocean. International airspace is just that, freely navigable. Like this Russian "fishing boat" that happens to bristle with antennas.

"While China welcomes the US military presence in Asia-Pacific for its constructive role in maintaining regional stability, that does not mean that China will compromise on issues relating to its territorial integrity or national security. Chen criticized the US naval drills in the South China Sea and attempted arms sale to Taiwan, and also urged the US to reduce or halt its military surveillance near China's coast."

Hence the reason for the recon plane. To maintain status quo. Don't want to see China start lobbing hundreds of missiles at Taiwan and start a war do we?

Stuff like this has been routine for ages on both sides. Nothing new here.

It's New bro, Chinese here told VN that they're 10 time stronger than 1996 now, but it seems they're Liars

CHina still means Nothing to US, same like 1996, still inferior and gutless , only can bully small neighbours :p:

Play the bigger game, take back Taiwan to expand your Navy if you have the guts, CHinese bro

Thats one of the main advantages US had over USSR during the Cold War. Inspite of being a bigger country, USA had USSR covered from every angle. Taking off from Pakistan and landing in Norway or operating out of Guam they had every nook and corner of USSR covered, while Soviets had a hard time doing the same to US.

@Topic: I heard the operation ceiling of U-2 is very high that normal jet planes can't reach it. Then how come the Chinese jets followed it. Also its too bad that SR-71 Blackbird was retired.

china is still not capable enough to take on U.S , U.S is a global player while china is just ike a frog in the well , it can only show its aggression only on asian nations .

Easily. Can you explain to everyone what is preventing others from having their reconnaissance vessels in the Gulf of Mexico? The Soviets used to have their 'fishing' trawlers off US coasts. What is preventing China from doing the same?

Good point. No normal fighter can "escort" or fly formation with a U-2. They can follow it on radar, but the only way to prevent it from going somewhere is to shoot it.
