Dams being built by India on River Indus pose danger to N Areas, Basha Dam, KKH

On April 1, 1948, India stopped the supply of water to Pakistan from every canal flowing from India to Pakistan. Pakistan protested and India finally agreed on an interim agreement on May 4, 1948. This agreement was not a permanent solution; therefore, Pakistan approached the World Bank in 1952 to help settle the problem permanently. Negotiations were carried out between the two countries through the offices of the World Bank. It was finally in Ayub Khan's regime that an agreement was signed between India and Pakistan in September 1960. This agreement is known as the Indus Water Treaty.

How can u say India violated the IWT which was signed in 1960 by posting something related to 1948??

Its a double violation since India is an occupying force as per UN definition in the related area and doens't have rights to build dams over Indus as per original treaty.

.
For your information, water treaties are usually based on economic and life dependency of the affected area's only, not the whole country or region. If the treaty is renewd in near future, Pakistan would get lion's share in water management as per international laws.

.
It is a well known fact that the world's most populous democracy (to use a well worn phrase) has absolutely no regard for international law, institutions, treaties nor does she seek to resolve any dispute with Pakistan amicably.

Her obsession with weakining Pakistan, leaving no stone unturned, and at whatever cost, will not let her make any rational decisions with regard to the water dispute.

They understand one language only. Laaton kay bhoot, bataon say nahin mantay.

Controlled underground nuclear explosions for engineering purpose only. It would require sub kiloton yield and we've tested that.

how would we get that close? Or do you mean we strike into the territory, conduct these explosions, and then retreat back, just in time for a UN sponsored cease fire?

.
And there is always the China card ofcourse. :enjoy:
China's threatened India to change course of the Brahmaputra...it can be done with more political will.

.
This will only move the international spot light on Kashmir issue. Eventually tensions will increase and Pakistan will be forced to take action.
The Indus river is the life line of Pakistan and there will be no compromise when it affects the livelihood of Pakistanis, and the world knows this.

India is essentially forcing international intervention in a situation they cant possibly win.

Seriously, what do they think will happen?

.
sir diverting the course of a river is an option but considering the kind of terrain in the kashmir region do yu really think its a possible option? also at which point in the flow do you want to divert the river thats very important.

thanx

.
The problem is, that most the rivers flow from Bharati or occupied territory, so unless we hold that territory, diverting the course of the river will not help us.

I think it would be both cheaper and easier to just blast the dams with whatever ordnance that we have. How many times can Bharat afford to rebuild these mega expensive dams?

.
I dont know what are you guys talking about. Pakistan is making allegations over India one after another without considering world bank appointed expert. He said that dam could be completed with slight modifications and also stated that India had not violated IWT.

[mod edit] If india does'nt change it's arrogant tone with regards to water agreement then we will take strict action. If it means imposing war and blowing up india dams then i FULLY ENDORSE IT. you [mod edit] are hell bent on destabilising pakistan, you don't want to live in peace then you will get no peace from us. Zardaris, altaf hussain, BLA, miscreants in northern areas are soon going to be wiped out then there will be government which will truely represent people of pakistan.
