this is cat 3 cyclone..

doesn't matter as people are not learning at all. They are celebrating on beach and roads. They are making noise and racing. What the hell are they doing. Military has put their lifes in danger to bring these fools away from dangerous places like on beach.

i just received a massage from government athorities even though I am in Mumbai. These no are emergency no to contact the athorities for relatives.

Indian satellite units supplied exactly the data in forcast as it is happening right now. People fled from the scene after a statue goes down just very near them. They were pulling the poles on the road when storm is over the city. What the hell has happened to people. They are jeoperdizing there lives and others.

Indian sats and IMD has been doing a great job fr the past few years.they were correct abt phailin as well.

Glad that we have a well functioning met department to warn us in advance of such calamities. Literally millions of lives have been saved in just the past few years alone, due to weather forecasting technology. That is one of the benefits of our space program, and the fruits of all our labour in sending satellite after satellite into orbit.

Last time we did an excellent job by minimizing casualties.. Our NDRF and military guys worked as a well oiled machine.We reduced the causalities from 10,000 during super cyclone to few dozens in cyclone phailin . During super cyclone in 1999 the locals didnt know there were cyclone shelters in their place and run out in open causing many casualties..We did learn from that..

Vidarbha ,maybe not. It would hit HYD if it hits vidarbha,and for now weather is sunny in hyd. I dont get it why would it strike after 3 days normally it starts raining a day or two prior to landfall of the storm,and there's nothing as such happening fr nw.

It will Hyderabad as its current direction is south west but after that it will move on northern areas as per IMD. So eastern Maharashtra Chhattisgarh Madhya Pradesh Udisha West Bengal Jharkhand Bihar and eastern up will get heavy rain. Most of blows will be taken by eastern coastal regions.

Also last time, the head of the relief operation threatened every official that he will book them under man slaughter if there is any lax in relief operations in the area assigned to them.. It also gave enough "motivation" to babus who were usually lazy..

Government should issue curfew orders from next time and shoot and sight standing orders should be given to control the mobs in condition like this. Anyone watching tv will agree with me after watching the news. Even a anchor suggested some treatments for such people.

Mostly low lying areas were vacated ...no such information for buildings in Beach road

The effect of this may be more than phailin..as phailin subsides in 4 hours span ..but this I am experiencing from Mid night and still going on...

I have been to Vizag & Araku and I really liked the place, is it possible for you to post some photos of RK, Rushikonda or Vimli beach at present, if you are nearby.

its peak speed is yet to come as when landfall ocurred, eye of the storm was very close to mainland. after 1:30 maybe speed will start to pickup.

please not now. we are asking residents to move inside the safe bunkers, not motivating them to go and take pics and putting them on front of the storm. many people are just doing that. sick mentality people.

now its time to put people in line of fire. More than enough images are visible to identify them. They should pay for it. They don't care for life, not theirs not others.

No I am damn serious. we should think about it. athorities will go to any extent to save them even if they are doing wrong. after the cyclone passes they should pay for it.

Gajapati in Orissa is worst affected till now but damage to most things is visible in vizag as its a metro city.
